CES. CES. CES. Guess how many times I mentioned CES in this video? Lately, I've been on startup mode and I felt my creative (and fried chicken) vibes has gone to product development. Still, when I started creating and making, I felt me again (haha, I can weird like that). This year I plan to grow my presence on YouTube and to make it scalable. To grow, I plan to focus on the following: 1. niche down (reinforce your brand and expertise) 2. find a video structure that is engaging (and I finally figured it out). 3. use the video content to build SEO (yeah, I'm a biz too) A month ago, I was at #ces2020 and it was my first time going to Las Vegas, and I geek'out hard. Watch my full thoughts, experience and insights on where technology is going. (link in the comments below). Also it'd be great if you subscribe. The content is going to way different from LinkedIn. #stringtheory on #video #marketing #tech and #startup #youtube #lenovoces / Lenovo Australia and New Zealand …see more

"Back then, I was told repeatedly that I did not fit the ideal profile of a venture capitalist. I was told I wasn’t 'aggressive' enough, and that venture capital had very few women. For better or for worse, I did not fully grasp how deep-seated this bias was." Christine Tsai 's story is one that really resonates with many women in tech and VC, me included. Which is better? Paying $18.99 or $7.40 for an identical (in every way) medicine? If you had the choice of buying one banana and paying either $1.00 or $4.00, I’d guess you’d (definitely) decide to pay $1.00... especially when you know $4.00 is overpriced for that banana. We think:‘Why pay more for an identical ‘thing’ when choice is available?’ So it should come as no surprise that Amazon is selling medicines at a lower—and I’d argue a more rational—price...and guess what? Consumers are not silly—we buy the lower priced, identical item when options exist. This is not ‘rocket science...’ Want to be competitive? Provide easy value for consumers and we will become your best paying friends. Let this be a warning shot to conventional businesses: understand this new consumer market...or perish. Selected Excerpt: “84% of Walgreens’ and 72% of CVS’ house-brand drugs were more expensive than the (Amazon’s) Basic Care line (of pharmaceuticals).” …see more

Early Morning Update Good morning. Another notable data day today including - Confirmation earlier this morning of German GDP contraction in both Q4-2019 and the 1st quarter of this year, with the latter much more pronounced, and - April US retail sales, out in under 90 minutes, attracting lots of attention. Meanwhile, US futures have been all over the place this early morning. Currently, they point to a down 200 point open down for the Dow, and 1% lower for the S&P. The yield on 10-year US government bonds is 2 bps lower, threatening to go below 0.60%. Oil prices are up 1%. From Bloomberg re the cash squeeze facing airlines. Despite all the data and ad hoc indicators coming from around the country, there is still a tendency to think of the airline industry as an exception. It’s not. Instead it was a leading indicator that also was among the first to get access to bailout support. Unfortunately, the liquidity phenomenon is prevalent in too many companies and in too many households. #liquidity #economy #bloomberg #airlines …see more
