I know that talking about physician burn-out is "all the rage" and should be addressed but while we're at it, let's also address the very real--and bigger problem --of nurse fatigue and burn-out. Both professional groups need help... Some selected stats on nurse burn-out: 98 percent of hospital nurses said their work is physically and mentally demanding 85 percent noted that their nursing jobs make them fatigued overall 63 percent reported that their work has caused nurse burnout 44 percent worry their patient care will suffer because they are so tired 41 percent have considered changing hospitals during the past year due to burnout …see more

The Journal of Medical Internet Research, probably the most respected journal in digital health, celebrates its 20th (!) anniversary soon and I got an invitation to submit a paper for its special edition celebrating that milestone. I wrote about why the age of artificial intelligence will bring the real era of the art of medicine. "While digital health technologies might be considered a threat to the art of medicine, I argue that advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, will initiate the real era of the art of medicine. Through the use of reinforcement learning, artificial intelligence could become the stethoscope of the 21st century. If we embrace these tools, the real art of medicine will begin now with the era of artificial intelligence." I hope it will generate discussions around A.I. and healthcare. 2 years ago, I felt that publishing my analyses on how digital health would affect a human mission to Mars would never get published in any peer-reviewed papers as I have no background in that area.  Now I just got an email from New Space that my paper is in the top 5 all-time most popular papers alongside Elon Musk's two papers. As to potential market reactions, it seems that many (too many, IMO) investors are of the view that they should "look through" the short-term data and/or the worse the number,the greater the likelihood of more government/central bank assistance and the better for asset prices. Meanwhile, US futures currently point to a slightly lower open (around 0.5% down) for stocks after yesterday's big rally. The yield on 10-year government bonds has edged lower to 0.67%.
