that Robinhood is launching a cash management product to emulate a bank account (the second time it tries to do so) underlines the great paradox of fintech disruption. many are critical of banks and wish them to oblivion. many cannot resist adding features, functionality, services, products that end up replicating a bank. #fintech #disruption #banks #startups #banking ā¦see more

Global trade rose dramatically in 1990s and 2000s. Has leveled off/declined since 2008 financial crisis. Worst time or predictable time for globalization backlash?
Given how long the post-financial crisis recovery has been, and given central banks' commitments to returning to "normal", interest rates remain "near zero", and negative when adjusted for rising inflation.
After surging for several years, populism has declined markedly in Europe in 2017 - "peak populism"? Great data from Wall Street Journal.

It's incredibly easy to fixate on bad news and get sucked into a negative state, but how often do we stop and appreciate the world we live in? Think about this for just a moment š We live in a time where we're able to complete work, social distance, and maintain close relationships all from the comfort of our homes. Some studies have indicated that on average, we spend 5.5 hours a day just on leisure. Not to mention, we also have more choices and ways to entertain ourselves than ever. But with all of this time, connectivity, and choice, it's also become more important to outline our values. I define values as attributes of the people we want to become -- and it's important to understand our values because only by knowing what they are do we know how to allocate our time. To fully enjoy the benefits of modern life, we have to make good use of our time. And the only way to do that is to build our values into our schedule. #Indistractable #Values #Relationships ā¦see more
Fun is looking for the variability in something other people donāt notice. Itās breaking through the boredom and monotony to discover its hidden beauty. The great thinkers and tinkerers of history made their discoveries because they were obsessed with discoveryāthe mystery that pulls us in because we want to know more. But remember: finding novelty is only possible when we give ourselves the time to focus intently on a task and look hard for the variability. #Indistractable #Discovery #Thinker #Mystery ā¦see more

The chances that an American born in 1990 will earn more than their parents are down to 50%; for Americans born in 1940, the same figure was 92%. The American Dream is dying despite our nation being richer than ever. We need to make a system that works for all Americans. ā¦see more
Do you serve really challenging clients? Do you charge an additional SERVICE FEE for those clients that are more difficult than others? BE REAL. We have ALL worked with passive-aggressive professionals that live with a little too much toxic negativity or ego. Just because they are different and difficult, doesn't mean they don't need your services too. During the discovery process, I can gauge just how much mental anguish these individuals may cause us, so we tack on an added service fee š¤·āāļø That fee then goes to my team in terms of gift certificates or night-out credits to encourage positive enrichment in return for working with challenging individuals or frequent overnight requests that may drain talent. After all, you can't pour from an empty cup! We understand the need to serve and the beauty in neurodiversity. Not everyone is fueled with positivity and empathy and THAT'S OKAY! But we will make sure to nurture our own hearts and souls to prevent burnout. What do you do? Can you recall a time when you felt unseen and unheard? How did you get through the mental anguish? Treat yourself! #mentalhealth #burnout ā¦see more
Planning for disaster recovery is a prerequisite when operating a business and in our own lives as we've learned from recent challenges. Or as Tofe Evans wrote in his book, Everyone Has a Plan Until Sh*t Hits the Fan, Have a backup plan! Last weekend while walking my 100lb Husky with my son, my pup got excited and pulled me flat on my back, skull smacking the cement sidewalk. My little dude ran for help as I laid there in shock, The world turning a hazy yellow around me. Concussions mixed with MS is a recipe for traumatic brain injury, forcing rest and avoiding the ER during a pandemic. Verbal disturbances, delayed thought processes, fatigue, etc. have interrupted my daily obligations, like homeschooling, working fulltime, running a fundraiser, volunteering, and more. Thankfully I was able to execute PLAN Sh*T HIT THE FAN: š” Moved in with my parents for help with meals and homeschooling. šāāļø Delegated my work and social activity to my team. š LOTS of rest as the bruises and brain recover! Do you have a plan for when sh*t hits the fan? How have recent events impacted your normal routine? I promise I will respond to your messages when I'm back on my feet!
