From the Wall Street Journal on "The Devastated Travel Industry, by the Numbers." Because these trends were visible early, rather than being treated as one of many, the airline industry was regarded as an exception, receiving government bailouts early Recent data confirm that it's far from an exception. #airlines #coronavirus #covid #covid19 The Wall Street Journal …see more
Building on yesterday's impressive gains, US stock markets just opened 3-4% higher on broad-based gains -- and consistent with the current gains in European stocks. The yield on US government bonds is up 8 bps to 0.76%. Behind all this is a vigorous debate pitting those worried about a bear rally and those calling a market bottom. #markets #stocks #investing #equities #stockmarket #economy #investmentmanagement #selloff #volatility #centralbanks #yields …see more
Jocko Willink and Leif Babin are both Navy SEALS. They just came out with a new book “The Dichotomy of Leadership.” Where they break down all the mistakes leaders do, all the ways they get lost in ego, all the ways they forget to gain trust from their teams and lose. They do they so you can win. People fail at leadership everyday. I fail at leadership everyday. I needed this book because it showed me some of my nature. And how I can counteract it. So I can achieve more. And my team can too. …see more

I’m publishing this series on LinkedIn called #Colors to explore a topic that I care deeply about: the Renaissance Mind. I am just as passionate about entrepreneurship, technology, and business, as I am about art and culture. In this series, I will typically publish a piece of art – one of my paintings – and I request you to spend a minute or two deeply meditating on it. I urge you to watch your feelings, thoughts, reactions to the piece, and write what comes to you, what thoughts it triggers, in the dialog area. Let us see what stimulation this interaction yields. McDonald's stunned a lot of people yesterday when is it announced its biggest acquisition in 20 years--one that reportedly cost the company over $300 million. No, McDonald's didn't buy a competitor. It bought a tech company. McDonald's stated it will use its new tech to provide more personalized customer experiences. For example, the company has tested digital drive-thru screens that show food based on various factors, including time of day, weather, and trending menu items. Additionally, the technology can instantly suggest and display items a customer might want, based on their current selections. These developments are already potential game changers. But we've barely scratched the surface. I was WRONG! I thought Fearless Girl was possibly only giving lip service to the women's rights movement, like so many brands do now to get PR hits. It turns out, State Street Corp is taking real action. The company "has voted against the re-election of board members at 400 companies this year because the firms do not have a single female director, part of a campaign for gender diversity symbolized by its “Fearless Girl” statue near Wall Street." …see more
Tony Hsieh was ahead of his times in so many ways. He believed in innovation, compassion, and community. I remember how much he loved living in his airstream - with almost a billion dollars in his bank account - because when he engaged with people around the late night fires, he felt like it was the world’s biggest living room. Most leaders just give this lip service but Tony lived it. He never stopped learning and he never stopped sharing. #RIPTonyHsieh …see more
