Grow an audience or build a brand? They actually go hand in hand. One cannot build a brand without volks in mind Actually, you can grow an audience without being a brand. Creating content to find your voice is a good enough reason to start. Building a brand means you made a conscious choice to exert and monetise your influence. Whether it be to find your job. To find speaking gigs. To build a business (even a side hustle). Building a brand and growing an audience is a choice. Still, I have seen exponential growth by intentionally building a personal brand. With intention: - you can stand out from the crowd - you can be authentic - you know what value you bring to the table - you can build a business with a brand To grow an audience/brand on LinkedIn... One needs to create a channel. By building a channel, you are responsible for creating high-value content. There are two types of content you can create: 1. curate by using existing content (don't forget to give credit where it's due) 2. or create original content that showcases your expertise and authority. Great tips on how to not get trapped on emails all day but still be responsive to what needs your attention.
I just posted about Robotics in healthcare. Its an emerging industry I'm sure we'll see much more of. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on my article. #medicalsciences #healthcare #robotics
It's Time To Look At Suicide Squarely In The Eye Suicide is all around us. While all other causes of death are declining, suicide is rising. I bet you know someone who has had issues with serious depression, anxiety, schizophrenia or bipolar. Or has taken their own life. My first experience with it was in high school when my good friend started to tell me things like ‘Paul McCartney stole my music. He took my songs from the freezer.’ (She was a budding musician). And one day she came to my house and started saying things like this around my dad, who was a doctor. After she left, he said, ‘You know Julie, your friend has schizophrenia.’ I had no idea even what the word meant. Years later one of my family members took her own life and mental illness became real. Real, tragic and deeply personal. It is time to address this growing cause of death in our society. Speak Up. Speak Out. Selected Excerpt: Increasingly, suicide is being viewed not only as a mental health problem but a public health one. Nearly 45,000 suicides occurred in the United States in 2016 — more than twice the number of homicides — making it the 10th-leading cause of death. Among people ages 15 to 34, suicide is the second-leading cause of death. …see more
Since Congress is thinking of "starting over" with healthcare, I thought I'd re-share this post of mine about how my sweet dog received better care than most humans. Perhaps we should take a lesson from veterinary medicine and learn how hospital-based veterinarians use best evidence to treat their patients, how they coordinate care, and how they include family members in decision making--including explaining the costs of care at each step along the way. …see more
Thanks Amy for sharing this short example about how (seemingly ) petty healthcare has become. It seems clear from your post that your three year old son has a medical condition requiring him to learn anew how to safely swallow food... basic human need--to safely eat and drink without concern of choking ... and yet the Occupational Therapy services and "associated tools (e.g., food)" were not included as a covered benefit with your insurance. Let me ask--how was your 3 year old son supposed to get better without the help of trained health care professionals ? What bothers me in so many of these healthcare posts is an undying sense of pettiness, and disregard for people's medical problems... wether that disregard is coming from insurance providers or the public. Healthcare should be held above all other industries to be caring, loving and selfless. Which I know we all want to experience when our time comes to deal with doctors , nurses and insurers. …see more
I’m quoted on Financial Times : “Healthcare hasn’t been working properly. It hadn’t been working properly even before the pandemic hit. But now it’s so obvious to everyone that improving healthcare should be at the top of the agenda.” The article focuses on how data and tech can transform the future of patient care and build operational resilience at medical institutions. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology …see more

It is theoretically impossible that everything is always wrong in healthcare. Yes, there is a digital divide and there will be patients who, by not having access to good Internet, might not have access to care either. But the only issue with the pandemic-induced rise in telemedical care is that it took a pandemic to let telemedicine earn its place in care. And don't have doubts, it will be here to stay. With global doctor shortages, a rising number of chronic patients and costs, telemedicine is the new norm. Get used to it. Your A.I. Prescription, 3-2-1 Lift Off! Yesterday was the first time I presented my new keynote narrative about my favorite topic: artificial intelligence in healthcare. The audience was a group of medical futurists to-be, students from the Biomedical Instrumentation subject at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. I talked about why you already live with A.I., and how we can get the best out of it for the sake of patients. I also had impromptu expert assistance by Ármin Juhász (my FIDE-accredited chess trainer) and Gabor Csato MD, MSc (CEO of the Hungarian National Ambulance Service). It was fun to have them add their points of view to the story! From the questions, it was good to see how clearly these future inventors and engineers see the potentials and threats of A.I., as well as their key role in keeping control of it: the majority of questions were about ethical concerns and responsibility issues. I hope I'll have a chance to present this narrative to you somewhere along my upcoming speaker tour. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #speaker #keynote #speakerlife #artificialintelligence #AI …see more

I received the results of my genetic test with Atlas Biomed. I thought I'd share all the results piece by piece here before publishing the big review on medicalfuturist.com . Part I. Disease risks They analyzed a lot of polymorphisms in my DNA that have been associated with disease risks. I discussed that with their genetic counselor and she also made it clear that it matters which studies a certain company chooses to base their estimations on. In my case, I have high risk for three conditions (coronary heart disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease). I've seen these in other genetic tests before but my high melanoma risk was not included in the report as they don't check for polymorphisms in cancer. The "average risk" conditions I have are quite common across populations. Regarding hereditary diseases, I don't carry any of the about 200 conditions they check for. It doesn't mean it's a 100% I don't carry those gene variants but there is a big chance for that. To check for a specific condition, I'd need a more detailed genetic test. Conclusion: to discuss the prevention plan about coronary heart disease with my GP. In the next posts, I'd describe my nutrition, sports and personal traits & my microbiome analysis. #genetics #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine …see more
