When employees start leaving your team, and managers complain about employees not having loyalty, other managers or companies "poaching" them, or making last-minute desperate counters with things they should have done long ago, it's time to fire those managers for not doing their jobs of building great teams and growing and empowering their people. People have choices, and employment at will cuts both ways. They will stay when their work is interesting, the pay is competitive, their work environment is healthy, and their manager is kind, understanding and knows how to grow their careers. They will leave when those things are not offered in their current job and find a job that does. They will leave toxic work environments even faster. So don't blame them.
