Touchy though this may be, we must talk about sexual harassment in the workplace. "Health" is a multi-dimensional experience which includes the body, mind and ease from stress...(hence the opposite term--dis-ease.) Sexual harassment is a form of stress and illness-a germ really-- which has, apparently become endemic. The sanitizer to cleanse this germ? I say sunlight --transparency and accountability ..and having each others' back as we take action to rid this nasty germ. Selected Excerpt: "It found that more than half of all American women—54%—have experienced “unwanted and inappropriate sexual advances” at some point in their lives. Thirty percent of women have endured such behavior from male colleagues and 25% identified men with sway over their careers as the culprits." …see more

Do we care? Do we care that health insurance coverage is dropping ? Anyone on LinkedIn going without insurance? My guess is most people reading this have coverage and don't worry about falling off their bike, or a nail through the foot, or a fever in your child at night, or routine medical checkups, or cholesterol levels, or pneumonia or.... BECAUSE you've got insurance . But for those who go "bare," every one of those things I mentioned are fears you harbor or desires you can't fulfill --regular medical exam--get ready to pay $300-1,000.00 bucks. Sick child? Don't even think about it because you'll need to sell your house if they need hospitalization. Those of us with coverage should care for no other reason that WE pay the bills for all those who go without ... not to mention it's a decent and civil thing to provide our fellow Americans. Empathy in the digital space: this is something crucial that we all need to learn from zero in healthcare as well. "Just as we've worked to define and study empathy in physical spaces, we need to study empathy in the unique context of digital spaces, because it's not enough to simply take what we know about empathy and virtualize it, and assume everything will just transfer". I finished Rebooting AI, a book that provides a sober image of the status of A.I. and expectations for the near future. My favorite part was when authors Gary Marcus and Ernest Davis describe what you could do to survive a robot apocalypse. They came up with quite surprising pieces of advice. 1) Close your doors and lock them: robots cannot open mechanical doors. 2) Paint your doorknob black because robots cannot see against a black background. 3) Go upstairs. Most robots cannot climb the stairs. 4) If none of these work, hop on a table and wait. Its battery will soon run out. These are humorous but true recommendations. They show how long the path is ahead for robots and automation to catch up with what we can do.
