This morning, I'm motivated by imagining the ultimate cure for cancer. The news that the 2018 Nobel Prize for Medicine went to 2 cancer immunotherapy researchers gets my October off to a good start. James P. Allison of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Tasuku Honjo of Kyoto University were awarded for their work on unleashing the immune system’s ability to attack cancer, which yielded a breakthrough in developing new cancer treatments. As the @World Health Organization pushes for an increased global spotlight on non-communicable diseases like cancer, this news offers yet another reason to believe that the tool to eradicate cancer will be found. Spent the afternoon driving around northern Wisconsin scoping out where we want to move in the spring. We know the general area of where we want to be. Come spring there will be lots of variables to consider like houses that are for sale, price, lake or maybe bluff or more acres inland, and most importantly the trees on the lot... (you see I’m tree hugger and if the trees don’t feel right it’s a no go!). I feel the same way about my new big project that I’m working on at botkeeper for 2021... I know where I want to go but I’m still unsure of a lot of the details... I know what I want and what I need to build and will figure out and make the decisions as the variables present themselves... I gues that’s why they call me a #visionary ! It’s feels so clear in my mind that I can almost touch it, yet I know I only see less than 25% now. I know this intimidates a lot of people... it drives my husband crazy because he wants to know every detail and what the completed project needs to look like before he moves forward. He’s been researching the area since we decided to move. We are actually polar opposites... What’s your vision for 2021? On my way to the @chicago innovation roundtable Last summer during a period of flux in my career, I received a message on Linkedin to join the Chicago Innovation Group. I’m pretty innovative so I thought, Why not? It’s was months later, that I found out my profile was actually data mined. Leave it to a bunch of CIO, CTOs, and other innovation folks to find members for their executive problem solving group in the data. As a non-traditional innovative CPA, branded as Radical, I knew I had found my tribe. Fast forward, I’m now actually part of artificial intelligence technology startup funded by google. OMG! I never saw that coming. I can’t thank you enough for your Roundtable. As a Radical CPA, with limited exposure to innovators in my own profession, to be able to be in a room with so many supportive folks who have been there/done that is so helpful for me. Every meeting I learn something new and feel the supportive love in the room!
