In many ways asynchronous working is more exciting to unlock than distributed work. It's nice to work from anywhere, not commute, etc, but it's wonderful to work on your terms, whenever you feel like it. Do you know what the United Nations global goals are and why they are important to improve life and well-being around the world? The Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) replaced the original Millennium Development Goals (#MDGs) initiative, launched in September 2000 as part of the #UN Millennium Declaration. As part of that initiative, world leaders pledged to combat poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and discrimination against women. The MDGs wrapped up in 2015 and were replaced by the SDGs. i have come to the conclusion that risk cannot be reduced. at best it is displaced, and most times, it is displaced in ways that makes it hidden, which is dangerous. this realization has been a long time coming. anyhoo, now, whenever i am on the receiving end of a pitch from a startup team telling me they are eliminating risk because “blah blah blah technology” i either turn into the vengeful Odin and claim half of the team for Valhalla and ultimately Ragnarok, or i gently explain that risk is never eliminated, it is merely displaced. now, depending on how and where it is displaced, i may invest or i may not. …see more
