Every day, do you have people asking you the same questions? Congrats, you're the go-to-expert of that topic. I call that your 'gateway brand'. Your personal branding strategy needs to include a gateway brand. Hereās why: A gateway brand refers to a very clear cut concept that lets others know straightaway what: Your value proposition + Service. For me, my gateway brand is that Iām your go-to LinkedIn branding consultant. š Another great example is Holly ās gateway brand. Sheās a career coach for tech talents that want to land jobs at Amazon. This gateway positioning allows you to attract prospects because it sends the message that you are the number one trusted voice, or go-to-person for the solution they are looking for. Simply put: it articulates your value proposition so well, that even external people could promote your services easily. What do you think your gateway brand is? Recently, I see a few articles per week about shortcomings of Sheryl Sandberg. What bewildered me is that I donāt see as much criticism about the #1 executive, the male CEO & Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. Heās treated like a passive Chairman of Facebook at this critical times rather than the active CEO to whom Sheryl reports. Rather than everyone focuses on the right issues, which are the technical, security, and communication problems at Facebook, they are mistakenly making the recent Facebook events about a Female Leader failure!!! Would we have the same coverages and bashing if Sheryl was Sean Sandberg! I strongly doubt... Iām sure that Sheryl made some mistakes along the way, but I can guarantee every single male and female executives make many mistakes over decades of running companies. I canāt help but highlight that āthese high power womenā who take on tough roles get āsubstantially unproportionate fair share of blamesā when things go wrong. We saw this in terms of Marrisa Mayer and we are seeing it with Sheryl Sandberg. I really want to invite everyone from reporters to regulators to focus on the right problems and keeping the CEO more accountable or at least as equally responsible as other executives. #leadership #femaleleadership #femaleexcutive #facebook ā¦see more

Awesome article on the view of the healthcare system in 2017 by a friend and visionary Dr. Dan Gebremedhin MD, MBA !
Traditionally, itās been the CDCās role to give the public and local officials guidance and science-based information during public health crises. During this one, however, the CDC has been sidelined. But worry not! The CDCāwhich, letās remember, stands for Centers for Disease Control!āactually has a detailed plan for reopening all aspects of businesses and social services! And yet....The Trump administration shelved this very document created by our nationās top disease investigators. Let me ask, āWhen you get sick, do you call your doctorās office for medical care, or do you call your politician for medical care?ā Why on earth would we care what a political organization has to say about a pandemic? There used to be a joke among those of us in medicine. We would say that doctors always thought they were qualified do otherāunrelatedājobs, like run hospitals even though they didnāt know how to open an excel file. Trust me when I say that anytime someone extends themselves outside of their training and experience, it never works out optimally. My adviceāas a trusted healthcare professionāis this:Find the CDC guidelines for reopening, print it or save it, and use it...and use only it to guide your every move. ā¦see more
Recently I returned from a medical mission in Tanzania and was able to visit the amazing Chimps of Mahale National Park. What an honor to see these remarkable beings in their own community. Human and common chimpanzee DNA are very similar: chimps take the prize as our nearest living relatives, sharing approximately 99 percent of our DNA, with gorillas trailing at 98 percent! In fact, Chimpanzees are rarely represented in African culture, as the locals regard them as too similar to humans and thus "too close for comfort." ā¦see more
Oops Wrong Conclusion: This is Why Its Hard to Advance Medicine and Public Health Remember when ālow-fat and high-carbā diets were all the rage, only to be proved (years later), to lead to weight gain, diabetes and heat diseaseāin part because of all the sugar added to processed foods? Or remember the buzz that oatmeal will stave-off heart disease? (Or eating only meat will not cause heart disease?!!) And I canāt keep upāis coffee good or bad for us?? Well now we can add the lowly and pure aspirin to the list of things that donāt actually help stave-off heart disease (assuming you are just fine). With so much hyping by the food industry, academic research centers and wanna-be food celebrities pushing ānutritionā and wellness, it is almost impossible to figure out whatās actually āgood for youā (and I mean from a longitudinal, epidemiological, medical-evidentiary manner...). Selected Excerpt: āThe message for the public is that healthy older people should not begin taking aspirin. āIf you donāt need it, donāt start it,ā Dr. McNeil said.ā ā¦see more
Being Human Hurts Patients. Being tired causes errors...itās true whether you are a truck driver or a doctor. Medical errors are things like getting the wrong medication, being prescribed the wrong test, being diagnosed with the wrong problem. And itās a huge problem as it is the 3rd leading cause of death. Medical errors happen for many, many reasons including doctors and nurses being tired, distracted, forgetful or simply out-of-date with best practices. Only one of the issues with medical errors is burn out. Lets face it, the bigger problem is that people are faulty instruments when it comes to high reliability, consistency and memory. Thatās why Iām hopeful about technology-assisting advancements such as āsmartā (meaning automated) order sets, Smart radiological readings for x-rays, and āearly warningā technologies that diagnose medical conditions before theyāve advanced, just to name a few. The time is coming when the scope of what doctors do is narrower and more augmented by advanced capabilities. We should embrace this because honestly, right now, Healthcare is a very dangerous place for patients. Selected Excerpt: āThere is growing evidence that physician burnout may be responsible for up to 200,000 deaths in US hospitals every year.ā ā¦see more

This is such a sad story. This is not a story of (perhaps) the oldest tree being cut down. It's more than that--it's a slap in the face of Our Collective History and Culture. I just gave a talk remotely at Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre's Research Conference that is taking place in Melbourne, Austraila. I talked about the context around #digitalhealth technologies and why we are living in an age of a cultural transformation of healthcare. You know Australian patients are lucky when audience members ask questions such as how they can prepare for the age of A.I. or what first step they should take to obtain "technological intelligence". No reluctance, no skepticism, but good heart and a commitment to change for the sake of patients. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #speaker #keynote #speakerlife ā¦see more
