I just gave a keynote with a long Q&A to a pharma company in the Middle East talking about how to become the hero who saves healthcare. People in the audience were IT managers who wanted to influence their leaders about digital health. I did my best. As virtual keynotes are the new norm, I kinda fall in love with them. I can't count at all on my live stage presence that determined the atmosphere before. The technical details and settings only depend on my crew and studio. The vibes are great and we chose to use YouTube Live for the best quality. I realized that with these new settings, new demands emerge from the audience too: they watch a 2D screen, so they expect something more exciting. More action, more drama - just like watching films. So I had to invent new ways to break the ice. I virtually let them in my home, my "private sphere" by showing them the devices and the space surrounding my everyday life. This brings a new kind of familiarity and community into the sessions - and it works! At last, I could deliver an engaging message and we had a vibrant discussion at the end. #VirtualKeynote #VirtualEvent #OnlineEvent #KeynoteSpeaker #DigitalHealth …see more

Want others to pay more attention to what you have to say? Start paying attention to them, first. In his timeless book "How to Win Friends and Influence People," Dale Carnegie wrote the following: “If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener...Remember that the people you are talking to are a hundred times more interested in themselves and their wants and problems than they are in you and your problems.” Carnegie’s advice was valuable when he penned it, but it’s even more relevant today because the rise of modern technology has reduced most attention spans. Go to any restaurant, and you’ll be sure to find a few individuals who can’t resist the urge to check their phones every few minutes, often to the chagrin of their dinner partners. In contrast, when you treat your conversation partner as the most interesting person in the room—curious to hear their thoughts and opinions—you stand out as different.
