It's been less than two months since Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the Cybertruck--a vehicle that Musk described as an "armored personnel carrier from the future." Even if you didn't watch the event live, you probably heard about its most dramatic moment. In an effort to demonstrate the strength of the vehicle's windows, which Musk described as a "transparent metal glass," Tesla design chief Franz von Holzhausen threw a metal ball at both the front and rear windows of the Cybertruck. Unexpectedly, the glass shattered both times. The scene went viral, becoming an instant meme. Rather than attempt to downplay the viral moment, Musk and company have decided to embrace it by announcing its newest product: a t-shirt depicting an image of the Cybertruck's shattered glass. If you're surprised by this marketing play, you shouldn't be. Not only is it a "classic Musk move," it's a lesson in emotional intelligence. Spider Man star Tom Holland recently flexed a real life superpower: the power of emotional intelligence. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed Friday in an interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that Holland personally convinced Iger not to give up on a deal with Sony Pictures, who had been sharing rights to the iconic comic book character with Disney. "He cried on the phone," Iger joked. "No, not really...but it was clear that he cared so much." It's called "Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation." Before reading it, see if you can see what's changed by quickly comparing just 2 sentences. This one is from a statement made by the organization way back in 1997: "In the Business Roundtable's view, the paramount duty of management and of boards of directors is to the corporation's stockholders; the interests of other stakeholders are relevant as a derivative of the duty to stockholders." And this one's from yesterday's statement: "While each of our individual companies serves its own corporate purpose, we share a fundamental commitment to all of our stakeholders." It's no secret: Steven Spielberg hates that the streaming revolution is threatening to upend Hollywood. As Variety recently reported, the accomplished director, who is one of the members of the board of governors at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, "plans to propose a rules change that would bar films that debut on streaming services or have only a limited exclusive run in theaters from contention for awards." On Sunday, Netflix tweeted a brilliant reply to Spielberg's recent campaign. The tweet doesn't mention Spielberg at all.
