There are cases when lawyers use DNA information to explain a person's behavior. There are also news about how they sequence the DNA of kids to predict their future intelligence and talents in China. Do you think genomics has a role in discussions about explaining behavior? #genomics #prediction #dna #healthcare #health #medicine #digitalhealth #prevention #personalization #healthy #medical #healthit #future …see more
My "Lessons in Digital Health" course just got to an end this semester. Amazing students (the Avengers of Semmelweis University), exciting final projects (from paintings about men vs robots to business ideas about a skin patch that monitors vital signs) and a lot of discussions about digital health. The course's syllabus is still open to those who want to teach it at their medical school. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #meded #course #university …see more
We had a whole day workshop about how to improve The Medical Futurist channels. We had so many ideas (while being far away from distractions) that hopefully it will be a challenge in 2019 to follow what we do. :) If you have any suggestions about how we could talk about the future of digital health better, please share! #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice …see more

At The Medical Futurist Institute, we argue that patient empowerment, the spread of digital health, the bio-psycho-social-digital approach and the disappearance of the ivory tower of medicine lead to a new role for physicians. In a new paper we just submitted to JMIR, we propose that it’s time to empower physicians in the same way patients have been empowered to let them use their unique vision, knowledge and insights to help make the best decisions for patients aided, not replaced, by advanced technologies. The submission is open to peer review which anyone can join. I encourage you to do so. https://lnkd.in/gwnbGP9 …see more
A while ago, I asked your input about which countries have good digital health strategies (not health IT, not e-health but specifically digital health). Based on your comments, I'm happy to share this analysis we did about the best digital health strategies and kudos to Australia, Denmark and New Zealand for making it to the top of the ranking. http://bit.ly/2yCU4nO #digitalhealth #strategy #policy #design #technology …see more

On this Veteran's Day I have so much gratitude for every service member past and present. I have a new appreciation for the sacrifice of our military and the family members who love them. This is my daughter, midshipman first class Madeleine Sangma, on the day she signed her commitment to serve as a Naval Officer. During the almost four years she has been at the Naval Academy I have seen the gut wrenching sorrow of fellow parents who have lost their precious child because they were willing to serve bravely. The fearless courage I have seen from these young men and women, astounds me and gives me so much hope for our nation's future. #veterans #military …see more

There's a serious crisis occurring in rural America and access to healthcare services. The reasons are many but this isn't a direction we should be going as a country with maternal health rates already embarrassingly low for a developed nation. #healthcare #crisis …see more
An opportunity to move Alzheimer's Disease diagnosis and treatment forward, for the right candidate.
There is such a need for services that support alternative ways of managing end of life and respects all decisions on how to live and how to die. Even talking about it and having these important conversations is a step in the right direction.
Today I think about my ancestors, some of them the first settlers in Plymouth colony, some came later from Sweden and from Ireland to escape famine. All whose blood, sweat and tears along with African slaves like Crispus Attucks and Native Americans fought impossible odds to give us the ability to celebrate our freedom. This is who we are and forever will be. Together. Free. …see more

Dovish tone and content re if/when/how the Fed would eventually taper its highly accommodative stance. It will take time, be done very carefully and gradually. Having all indices starting the session lower, the NASDAQ decoupled from the Dow and the S&P--closing up 0.3% to set a new record, and compared to losses of 1.1% and 0.8%,respectively. Little to report away from this with government bonds rather listless (10-year ended at 0.82%). #markets #stocks #investing #equities #stocks #bonds #economy #stockmarket #interestrates #investmentmanagement …see more
