Thanks to media consultant Sharifa K. for sharing news about the world's first #artificialintelligence health guidance app developed in #Swahili , a language spoken by more than 100 million Africans in countries includiing #Uganda , #Kenya , #Tanzania , #Rwanda , #Burundi and #Mozambique . Globally, four billion people - more than half the world’s population - lack access to basic health services, with a disproportionate impact experienced by people in low- and middle-income countries. WUSA-TV anchor Lesli Foster reminds me of all the times I passed through European airports and was told my hair had "triggered the system," whatever that means. Or the time right here in America when I was told that I would be much prettier if I "took that mess out of my head." The struggle is still real for women who choose natural hairstyles. I've heard all of the arguments about professionalism, neatness, and fitting in. I'd be the first to send myself home for showing up at work with unkempt, unclean locs. But this issue is more about #identity and #culture . The majority of people who choose to wear their hair in natural styles spend as much or more money to keep them looking fashionable and appropriate than people who don't. You really need to read this information from UNICEF about who has access to safe, clean #water and #sanitation - and the shocking number of people worldwide who still don’t. Tremendous progress has been made in recent decades, but more than a billion people in the world still don’t live near a safe water source. They still don’t have access to a toilet, which means they’re still vulnerable to diseases related to poor hygiene like diarrhea, schistosomiasis and trachoma. Every time I swallow a sip of cool, clean water, I remember those who would give anything to have it. Every time I shower, I think of all the babies and children who would joyfully splash around in the water raining down on me, and appreciate being able to enjoy it without getting violently ill. We must stop taking these things for granted, and collectively work to ensure that more people have access to safe, clean water. Let journalist Amy Fallon and Devex explain how they work and why they're needed: "South Africa needs about 12,000 pharmacists to fulfill the international standard of 50 pharmacists per 100,000 people, according to a 2017 government report. The South African government has struggled to attract the necessary numbers, with government clinics paying little money, and pharmacists often leaving for better opportunities abroad. The result is that some 68 percent of patients spend between two to five hours waiting for a consultation with a pharmacist. "ATM pharmacies look like your average ATM, but they accurately dispense vital repeat medication for chronic stable patients who have HIV/AIDS, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, or tuberculosis — in just under 3 minutes. Chinese fintech/finserv has built a few champions on the strength of its domestic market size & CPC strategic policies. these champions are developing globally by following Chinese tourists, the Belt & Road initiative. Chinese fintech/finserv is the fruit of a nationalistic intent that is forward thinking & globally connected. EU fintech/finserv is trying to rearchitect its domestic champions on the strength of various EU directives. Given the size of the EU market, the plan is for these directives to be globally influential & for its domestic champions to benefit, being at the epicenter. EU fintech/finserv is the fruit of a nationalistic intent that has yet to be as fully coordinated & comprehensive as its Chinese counterpart. US fintech/finserv still relies on the global status of the $ & the vibrancy of innovation. apart from a few global actors, it is inwards looking given the self sufficient size of its market & remoteness. US legislators have less of an understanding of tech as a driver, nor a vision for the future.
