My June 15th conversation with City of Fort Worth , Texas community activist Opal Lee is the highlight of my year so far. There’s nothing more sobering than having a Zoom Video Communications call with a 93-year-old woman who has more energy than you. Her wisdom, clarity, strength and purpose is incredibly uplifting, and her determination to have June 19th declared a national holiday in America is just what the doctor ordered for this nation’s current cycle of racial turmoil. For #LaborDay2019 , I’m thrilled to share some exciting news. Starting September 30th, I’ll begin my new job as Story Editor for Global Press Journal , the news division of the Global Press Institute . I’ll be working from the DC headquarters with a dynamic team of editors and managers headed by Cristi Hegranes , whose experience as a foreign correspondent in #Nepal led her to conclude that in many countries, women are best positioned to tell the critically important stories of their nations' development. Journalists worldwide working for news organizations in a business, technology or leadership capacity can apply for a fellowship at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University   will host at least one fellow for an academic year to carry out a research project on #journalism #innovation.
