California just signed two new bills into law -- one makes it illegal to post any manipulated videos (deepfakes) of an electoral candidate within 60 days of an election, while the other allows state residents to sue anyone who deepfakes them into a pornographic video. As the tech behind deepfakes gets stronger each day, we'll need more of these types of laws to help retain the precious bits of truth we're left with online. …see more
