I'm quoted as a superforecaster in this The Wall Street Journal article about COVID's impact on the NBA. I've been a member of the Good Judgment Project since 2017 and I'm very proud to be able to contribute to their superforecaster team too. It's so much cognitive fun, check it out: https://www.gjopen.com / #forecast #forecasting #futurist #covid …see more

If you've never had back pain, don't read on. If you sometimes do, you are probably looking for some relief for it. Something that's easy to manage, portable, user-friendly, and durable. And most importantly, it has to reduce pain. I just tested Reliefheat, a device that promises exactly these. This is my experience with it: - The belt is easy to use, comfortable and portable. - The device operates on an app where you can set the basic features via Bluetooth. It heats and changes temperature in seconds and even learns your preferences. Charging is quick and battery life is long. - But: you need to figure out first if heat works for you or not. Everyone reacts to the same treatment differently. Heat might alleviate your muscle and joint problems, but for inflammation you should stick with something cold. - ReliefHeat is designed for the lower back area and although I tried to use it on other body parts, like knees and shoulders, it didn’t work out well and was uncomfortable. - The product is only available in the US and Canada. All in all, ReliefHeat delivered on its promises. If I had chronic back pain that reacted to heat, it would be an instant buy. But if the pain is elsewhere, or heat did not make you feel better, I would recommend you finding another option. …see more

A while ago, I asked you which medical specialty you think will be affected the most by digital health technologies and which ones will remain the same. It seems I opened the box of Pandora with such a questions because I've received an enormous amount of responses, thank you for those! Here are the initial results. Specialties that will change the most on the top (quoting you from the comments): Radiology Family Practice will change to an app or will cease to exist. Dermatology Pathology Oncology Epidemiology Specialties that rely heavily on labs could be affected greatly by the digital health and #AI revolution including nephrology, rheumatology and hematology. Endo, GI: Patients get so few minutes with providers, digital will give greater insights while not in the office. Ophthalmology Sports medicine and rehabilitation Specialties that will change the least: Psychiatry Trauma / Emergency medicine Gastro specialists ENT Nursing #technology #health #healthcare #medicine #future #digitalhealth #jobs …see more

It seems additional studies are needed to assess more complex disease but at $11,000-$40,000 per procedure it's indicative of the incredibly high costs in healthcare with a questionable ROI.

Today is a very important day that all Americans should pay close attention to. Arguments begin in front of the supreme court because the current department of justice's stance that employers should be able to fire employees based on their gender expression or sexuality. As the CEO of a company, friend to the LGBTQ community, proud mother of a remarkable young woman who happens to be a lesbian and an American who believes in equal rights, I vehemently oppose the discrimination that is being proposed. #today #equalityforall #business #culturematters #humanity …see more

Gary Gulman is one of my all time favorite comedians. He's been on the podcast four times, sharing his tips and ideas. BUT...two years ago he had to quit. He was medication resistant clinically depressed. He quit everything. Then he came back, recovered from the Depression, and his new special "THE GREAT DEPRESH" is coming out on HBO Saturday. The tips he gives in the latest podcast with me are unbelievable. Not only for comedy but all creativity and entrepreneurship.
