This is mind-blowing. Just in case you were wondering if HBO is headed for trouble, here’s the new leader installed by AT&T displaying amazing ignorance/arrogance about the Netflix brand. With the news of Payless ShoeSource shuttering all of its stores, I want to re-share this article I wrote last April. Because while it may seem like there's a retail apocalypse upon us, in reality, it's a transformation of the shopping experience. And retailers should ignore it at their peril. #retail #payless #radioshack #retailapocalypse #customerexperiences #shoppingexperience #brands #shopping …see more
Show of hands, how many people are still not using Uber or Airbnb because of their respective logo redesigns? And how many of you are still actually upset that it happened? Exactly. So if you don't like the new Slack logo, imagine yourself 3 months from now when you won't remember this redesign either and let's move forward, shall we? #design #graphicdesign #logodesign #logos #logo #airbnb #uber #slack #redesign #visualbranding …see more
You might be tempted to look at this and think that Apple just burned Google like the article states. But it is a prime example of how to act like a first-place brand. Apple has merely played up their strength much in the way we did at Netflix with "No Late Fees - Ever!" It just so happens that Blockbuster was closely associated with late fees. Likewise Google/Android and data issues. (btw, it is arguable as to whether Apple OS or iOS is "secure" but it is more secure than Android) #apple #netflix #google #CES #CES2019 #Blockbuster #brand #brandbuilding …see more
The reality of retail today as exhibited by Communal Coffee in San Diego. Sure, they sell coffee and small bites. But they also provide multiple, enjoyable spaces within their environment that are not only good for their brand but also happen to be highly Instagrammable. #marketing #retail #instagram #socialshopping #socialmedia #brandmarketing #cx #customerexperience …see more
Have to agree with this article by Whitney Johnson . In fact, I think this needs to extend to lateness. As former Netflix Chief People Officer, author, and speaker Patty McCord has said many times if, as a leader, you are habitually late to meetings, others pick up the habit and it seeps into everything including product or feature launches. So just don't start the habit. #leadership #strategy #management #startups #companyculture …see more
Imagine if everyone in the storm path had a simple storm surge AR app that showed this in the context of where they live. I imagine it might cause people to come together to help one another before the storm more so than after it. #augmentedreality #AR …see more

Good, historical read on technology adoption and how new tech may be vastly superior but there are other reasons why it isn't adopted right away.

How soon before Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Hulu and other streaming services offer stuck-at-home on lock down residents free access for a month? It would be great marketing and a captive audience.
Being silent is not always a good workplace response to harassment. But it takes courage to speak up. When you do, however - especially when women band together - good things can happen.
I'm intrigued by the idea of virtual negotiation, and the ability to secure a pay rise is always interesting for those of us who work in the "traditional" workforce. According to Marc Cenedella, founder of job search site Ladders, cover letters no longer cover anything, and they’re not really letters anymore. In 2020, a cover email has four sentences, and a brief introduction and wrap-up is at most two paragraphs in length. #career #work #KellyeMedia #communication #coverletters …see more

If you're using LinkedIn for your job search you may run into this scenario. This article may be useful. "Receiving an InMail from a recruiter can make you feel special and in-demand, but like so many things in life, you only get one shot to make a great first impression. Seasoned recruiters have a keen eye and can spot red flags like dishonesty, misrepresentation, and job seekers who are “wishy-washy” on whether they’d consider the opportunity. Therefore, whether you’re interested in the job or not, how you respond can speak volumes. Here are some tips on how to best respond to a recruiter’s InMail message." #career #recruiting #KellyeMedia #jobsearchadvice https://lnkd.in/eRvYc6m …see more
