Is it any wonder why we are getting sicker as a population? People think twice about getting the care they need when wages may be garnished to pay what the health insurance plan they pay up to $1000 a month won't cover. This has to change.
What Do People Want for Healthcare? Kaiser Family Foundation has a good poll out. In summary, Democrats are prioritizing: 1. Lowering healthcare costs (My editorial comment: All Americans probably want this) 2. Lowering prescription drug prices (My editorial comment: All Americans probably want this) 3. Protecting insurance for those with pre-existing conditions (My editorial comment: All Americans probably want this) And in general, of all topics, Democrats still prioritize healthcare as a leading concern. (Again, My editorial comment: All Americans probably want this) Seems Democrats and Republicans all probably want good health care, for themselves and their families and at reasonable prices. Perhaps that’s enough to have in common with ‘our fellow citizens ‘ In order to see each other as our ‘brothers and sisters’ in banding together to preserve-and strengthen-the ability to have and keep, good quality healthcare. Serving Our Country or Serving Private Company Profits? Veterans who serve on behalf of America, get injured on behalf of America and then whose recovery and rehabilitation is calculated by Stockholders profits when they return home? The issue is about privatization of the VA. And two things are known when comparing private to government/public health systems: 1) both have equal quality and 2) access to Care varied radically because of the different business models: For-profits are most likely to offer relatively profitable medical services; government hospitals are most likely to offer relatively unprofitable services; nonprofits often fall in the middle. For-profits are also more responsive to changes in service profitability than the other two types. This will really test our attitude about “People Over Profit.” …see more
