The state of New York has teamed up with Google to build an online portal for unemployment applications that’s much more reliable than the Department of Labor’s old one.
That which controls the data… wins! It’s that simple, which means deciding what “that” is really, really matters. Think about this...

Here's some fun stuff you can do on your year-end holiday vacation: learn to use AI to read and understand your documents or email messages. It’s so easy that anyone can do it. Think about this...
As it has taken me less than a day to re–mess up my desk, I thought it would be fun to talk about some of the algorithms we use every day that are also used by computer scientists, data scientists, AI, and machine learning models. Think about this... …see more
We're entering the worst time of the year for many drivers: snow season. Waze is here to save the day, though, now allowing users to mark unplowed roads. Awesome idea!
Think about this... It’s the end of a decade and the start of the holidays. The kids may have no clue about channel surfing, but they know the car of the future... is a truck? Your holiday gifts won’t buy themselves, so what can you buy that won’t totally suck? (That rhymed.) Think about this... Twitter abdicates its role as a social media leader. It leaves the grand social experiment that is our data-driven, hyper-targeted messaging world for others to figure out, and it increases EBITDA while doing so. Well done, Jack!
There are two basic camps in the world of marketing: numbers camp and pretty pictures camp. I live in both camps, and you should too. If you live in the numbers camp, I’m going to confirm what you already know. If you live in the pretty pictures camp, buckle your seatbelt, because this is going to be a fast, bumpy ride. https://lnkd.in/eaDsthB #Advertising #ai #algorithm #BigData #data #literacy #datascience #MachineLearning #Marketing #digitalmarketing #socialmedia #adtech #martech …see more
Think About This... you actually work for Google, collecting stuff doesn't make sense anymore, Nike keeps winning, and 5G doesn't matter. You just invented the cell phone: who ya gonna call? When is a self-driving car truly ready to drive on its own? That's what regulators like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are deciding right now. A big question: how do we create the human driver's test equivalent for cars?
An invitation to walk in the Labor Day Parade got me thinking about labor law as an alternative path to meaningful data privacy regulation. Think about this… There is a popular meme used to explain the exchange of our data for free online services: “When something online is free, you are not the customer; you are the product.” This idea is generally adapted to fit the regulatory argument du jour. Another popular way to explain the exchange of our data for free services is to say, “The services we enjoy are not free; we are paying for them with a new form of currency, our data.” There is some validity to each of these ideas, but both assume that users inevitably exist to serve the commercial interests of the data elite. I reject this notion. At the moment, most users are humans, and in America, being human comes with some “unalienable” rights. https://lnkd.in/ei4GNfV #privacy #marketing #google #algorithm #facebook #socialmedia #cybersecurity #business #commonsense …see more
