What science fiction movie or book inspired you the most ever? My choices are 2001: A Space Odyssey and Back to the Future. I work with three keynote narratives that I customize to each event. The narrative that I have been asked to use the most recently is Science Fiction in Healthcare. It describes why science fiction helps prepare for the future and what kind of daily habit can help determine what desired futures we choose. Even people who are not sci-fi fans realize how amazing the way science fiction authors think about the utopias and dystopias. And of course, we put a lot of science fiction references (including hidden gems) into the slides. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #fromchancetochoice #speaker #keynote #speakerlife …see more

Books were always an important part of my life and I was fortunate to have a mother and grandparents who read to me daily. If you are looking for a great way to kick of the season of giving, I am hosting a book drive for an organization that distributes books to children to improve literacy. Even one book can make such a difference in a child's life. 📚 https://lnkd.in/dthHHDR …see more
Technology alone is not the answer to filling gaps in care for our nation's seniors. In the 20 years I have worked in healthcare and side by side with caregivers I have seen more technology ideas than I can count that fall short because the people with the ideas didn't really understand the complexity of the problem. Maybe finally everyone gets that people are essential in providing great care. Technology solutions and education that elevate the role of caregivers and connect everyone more efficiently is most impactful. It's okay to admit we still need actual humans in some situations. Let's give those humans the right tools and support to do a better, more efficient job. It's the smart, kind and loving thing to do. …see more

I am so happy Ida B. Wells is being honored in Washington D.C. She was excluded at the last minute by white suffragists at their "parade" on Washington. She was a brave pioneer for the rights of women and African Americans.
Searching for a safe and high quality environment for a loved one who has increasing care needs isn't always easy. Here are some things to keep in mind and guide you along the way.
There are so very many things we can all learn from Rwanda and the way they manage healthcare from a practical, community based standpoint. They turn their challenges into opportunities which leads to innovation.
To all my colleagues and friends internationally who continually ask "What is happening in America?" and "Why don't you come back to France?" I say, we are working on it. Don't lose faith in us as people. We are more than the political discourse and those who are speaking the loudest aren't necessarily representing the majority with their voice. There are hard problems to fix that have been problems for generations and efforts to keep those problems hidden or minimized have been fierce. We are working on it and we won't give up. #america #freedomforall #equality #business …see more
