Almost $27 million last year in compensation. Not a bad gig. What this tells us is that UHG is an extremely successful, highly profitable business. A business that makes it's profits like any other business, growing money coming in and reducing expenses paid out. It's not selling coffee or shoes or even groceries. It sells healthcare coverage. Since it is a healthcare insurance company the expenses paid out are largely the healthcare costs of it's members. The incentive is tied to keeping those costs low so the company makes higher profits and the CEO is rewarded. Consider this when the insurance companies are complaining about how much it costs them to cover those of us with pre-existing conditions. Just a little food for thought. …see more
