One year ago I invested in Monti Kids on Shark Tank! Monti Kids founded by Zahra Kassam, is the only Montessori subscription for children ages 0-3 that gives parents access to an authentic Montessori education, proven in schools for over 100 years. Monti Kids continues to grow and do amazing things. Zahra recently took the stage at TEDx Manhattan Beach to talk about how to expand a baby’s potential with education from birth. I’m so proud of Zahra and the work she’s doing to make the world a better place. Watch and share her talk here: https://lnkd.in/euC78YK …see more
“Dear Daughter, I Want You to Fail.” Writer Lyz Lenz once penned an excellent piece that led with that brilliant headline. The article is all about how Lenz's parents taught her to deal with failure at an early age, to learn from mistakes and bounce back stronger than ever. She contrasts that with “snowplow parents," who try to always smooth their children's path and make life easier. “A life lived without failure is not success, it’s mediocrity,” argued Lenz. “I don’t want to teach my daughter to quit or that I will pave her way. I want to teach her to pull back, reformulate and try again and again and again.” Great reasoning, and excellent points. But without that powerful headline, the majority of the audience would never have read the article. Want to reach a larger audience? You've got to find a way to grab their attention. Because your message may be powerful, but it won't do any good unless you can get people to listen. No quote better explains a lot of the current mood in the world and bipartisanship/extreme views on political matters. MLK Jr. spent the last year of his life advocating for a guaranteed minimum income before he was assassinated. A moral leader and visionary whose full vision was not realized. We can finish his work. Hope all enjoy this day.
Healthcare Deal Making: A Horse Of Another Color These days, we are seeing a lot of deal making in Healthcare but not all deals are the same kind, nor are they trying to fix the same problems... For example a merger between CVS and Aetna are trying to reduce overall spending with in their care delivery ‘supply chain.’ However, ‘employer activists’ like Amazon/JP Morgan/Berkshire Hathaway are trying to reduce total cost of Care through purchaser power... Of course the ‘technology invaders (not my term and I don’t care for it)’ understand consumer engagement and well, technology! Interesting short read... Selected Excerpt: “Healthcare dealmaking involves more players with different goals and new business models than ever. It is a disservice to refer to healthcare M&A with the same vocabulary as in decades past. “ …see more
As the holidays roll around, you probably have two thoughts. The first is that it’s hard to believe (as always) that the year is about to end. The second? That it’s time to slack off, right? What could you possibly get done before the New Year begins?
i assume the title of this article is misleading. both insurers are probably angling towards clearing claims in a blockchain, but not settle them, that is “pay” them.

The biggest challenge facing marketers is potential buyers who just don't... give a damn. It's hard to overcome buyer apathy, but that's what great #marketing does best. In the Summer of 2007, I pushed hard ( and won!) to get QR codes on the launch campaign for the Nokia N81. It cost nothing, but nobody clicked on them because no native apps would scan them, and people didn't know what they were. It was their first use outside Asia. Outdoor ads for Airbnb could link to real time updated landing pages featuring weekend breaks from that location for that weekend. 6 Sheet ads for Cars could use QR codes to send Whatsapp messages to book a test drive. Every magazine could make every page shoppable and bring in cash with near-zero effort. Even TV ads could push to purchase, and attribute success. You could reorder jeans you love with a scan of the label and a single press on the makers Shopify page. Our failure to get imaginative and excited about how devices and the real world can work together is nuts. I'm excited to make a new moving QR code ad come to life in Digital Screens for my book soon! …see more
I saw that Google just released a competitor to Airtable, which I've been hearing a lot about. I haven't used either solution before so I started checking it out and it looks like Google Sheets on steroids. Has anyone used either Airtable or Google Tables to accomplish cool things? I'm really curious on what's possible and if I should be paying attention to these tools. …see more
Not all doors on an escape route will be Fire doors and not all Fire doors will be Escape Doors. So I've seen a few posts and conversations recently regarding Fire Door Inspections, Fire risk assessments etc. The conversations seem to revolve around whether a inspection should include all doors or only designated fire doors and should they have and follow a FRA. Maybe a few people are missing the point and maybe missing an opportunity. For example the last door to escape the building is not likely to be Fire Door because it doesn't form part of a compartment. Does that mean the Inspector would leave if out of their scope? If a door is on an escape route but isn't necessarily a FD30 or FD60 should it still be inspected against BSEN179 and/or BSEN1125? yes it should. so maybe there are a number of doors in a building that aren't necessarily Fire doors but do form part of an escape route and are integral to life safety, yet the discussions seem to be about just the Fire doors. If you or your company would like to expand their knowledge and possibly increase revenue talk to Abloy UK or sign up for the Abloy Foundation course here: https://lnkd.in/dRwMXdT #Abloy #doorsets #firedoors #firesafety #doors #lifesafety #fire #locks …see more

Can you hear me yelling YEEK? The press is now characterizing those who are having a psychological response to the threat of the virus as either OCD or struggling with anxiety disorders. This is just plain wrong. The threat itself is traumatizing -- for those with and without a history of trauma. Please read this piece on the impact of this on colleges and universities. It has broader applicability. We need to pay attention to the psychic impact of the threat of COVID-19. It is real; it is not a sign of mental illness; it is a response to trauma. See: …see more
