A friend recently gifted me ‘The Infinite Game’ by Simon Sinek . As I continue reading it, I thought of sharing beautiful chunks from the first few pages. 1. In the Infinite Game of #Business , we may not know all of the other players, and new ones can join the game at any time. 2. To one company, being number one may be based on the number of customers they serve. To another, it could be about revenues, stock performance… In infinite games, there are multiple metrics, which is why we can never declare a winner. 3. The game of business has no finish line. Despite the fact that companies are playing in a game that cannot be won, too many business #leaders keep playing as if they can. 4. To succeed in the Infinite Game of business, we have to stop thinking about who wins or who’s the best and start thinking about building organizations that are strong enough and healthy enough to stay in the game for many generations to come. 5. Door Dash rises 80% at IPO to be "worth" $62bn really is a sign of mass insanity. I'll get a bit of Airbnb stock tonight with the Directed Share Program, when it IPO's tomorrow , will shoot up ( not as much, perhaps 30% ) And then I'll sell all my vapid tech* stocks because this spell is utter utter madness. This froth makes the dotcom peak of March 2000 look hyper-rational. These valuations are a sign that nobody knows where to place all the free money in the world printed by the Trillions. Money is flowing around everywhere looking for a place to go. It's crazy. It's based on plausibility and confidence, not fundamentals. They've unbundled from reality to just be a mixture of mass delusion and chancers who hope to gamble on selling before reality hits, myself included. …see more

In the five years I spent researching and writing Indistractable, the most important thing I’ve learned is this 👇 The antidote to impulsiveness is forethought. Procrastination and distraction are things that happen in the moments but we later regret. So, how do we fix that? Our species has an incredible ability to do something that no other creature on the face of the earth can. We can see the future with greater fidelity than any other animal. We can predict what’s going to happen better than any other species. This means we can use our predictions of the future to plan ahead. The key to living with integrity is not to rely on self-control or willpower but rather to have a system in place so that when we are tempted toward distraction we have a plan in place!
