At 5.2%, the ECB's 2021 growth forecast reclaims only around half of the expected GDP loss in 2020 (and with President Lagarde's important qualification re considerable economic uncertainty). So, here is the question that is puzzling me. Can someone, whether they are a President or anyone else, redeem themselves and cure omissions by later clarity and specificity? In other words, can one refine one's comments on White Supremacy and racism that were too vague and too weak by ramping up one's outrage later? Do we treat the later comments as a reflection of the real feelings of the person speaking and ignore earlier flawed rhetoric or do we look at the first words spoken and treat them as "truth?" Does it matter if it is minutes, hours or days between the first comments and the improved comments? And, one more thing: to what standard do we hold our leaders with respect to their obligation to speak up and out out on topics such as discrimination, racism, sexual assault, violence? High -- the question is how high the bar is and should be. …see more

For the past several years, I've had the privilege to help countless individuals and organizations develop their own emotional intelligence. (I also wrote a book on the topic.) Time and again people ask me: "What are some simple things I can do to build my own EQ?" Here's what I tell them. 1. Embrace "the rule of awkward silence." 2. Use "the three-second trick." 3. Try to control your thoughts. 4. Listen to feedback. 5. Make your feedback constructive. 6. Disagree and commit. 7. Show empathy. 8. Ask for help. 9. Help others. 10. Apologize. 11. Forgive. 12. Be yourself. #EmotionalIntelligence #empathy #leadership #management #EQApplied #MakeEmotionsWorkForYouNotAgainstYou …see more

Going into the last hour of trading, US stocks are solidly up, some 3%. This strong risk-on tone is evident in other segments of the markets, but far from across the board. Repeat after me: "our job title is not your brand" Saying that you're a CEO or a coach is not a brand, that's a job title. There are over 8.9M of CEO on LinkedIn, how are you different or unique? Same with coachess, there are over 6.2M on LinkedIn. Why should individuals pick you over Jerry or Jenny of the coaching world? Even Steve Jobs was known for being "Steve Jobs", he wasn't known for being CEO of Apple. He was known for being a product-led visionary. But if you want to build a personal brand, what is the unique selling point, your value prop, that you want to convey? Be known for something! Don't be known for your job title. Be known for helping 1000s of side hustlers becoming entrepreneurs. Be known for that kind of impact. Don't confuse your job title or even your identity as a personal brand. What do you want to be known for? What is your point of difference? Visualise yourself in 5 years and reverse engineer it. #stringspeed on #personalbranding on branding positioning …see more
