I’ve been plagued with scam calls these past few weeks and decided to end it once and for all... So yesterday I received the same call I have been receiving for the past few weeks asking me if I had recently been in a car accident. Previously I have either said no, told them to go away (or words to that effect) or hung up on them. But the calls persisted. So I took a different tack yesterday and the conversation went like this... Caller: we believe you have recently had a car accident? Me: yes that’s correct Caller: ok could you tell me when the accident occurred and where? Me: it was last week and it was way up North Caller: could you tell me about the driver of the other car? Me: sure he was a male, quite chubby, long grey beard and was wearing a red coat. Said he was in the area delivering gifts Caller: ok did you get his name? Me: yes it was Nicolas Claus Caller: and what was the name and model of his vehicle? Me: well it was an open top with runners instead of wheels Caller: erm, ok do you know the make, model and engine size? Me: not sure of the make or model but it was powered by several reindeer... If you must know, you don’t woo with sweet words but with🍗. Anyway, don’t be gross. LinkedIn is interesting space... You got the decision makers, the job seekers and thought leaders... But it’s important to be human. Being human means building rapport and adding value. How can you make it a win-win-win situation? A win for you. Win for the other person you’re reaching out.
