Simon Sinek"Dreams always come from behind you, not right between your eyes. It sneaks up on you. But when you have a dream, it doesn't often come at you screaming in your face, "This is who you are, this is what you must be for the rest of your life." Sometimes a dream almost whispers. And I've always said to my kids, the hardest thing to listen to—your instincts, your human personal intuition—always whispers; it never shouts. Very hard to hear. So you have to every day of your lives be ready to hear what whispers in your ear; it very rarely shouts. And if you can listen to the whisper, and if it tickles your heart, and it's something you think you want to do for the rest of your life, then that is going to be what you do for the rest of your life, and we will benefit from everything you do." - Steven Spielberg #passion #listentothewhispers #findyourwhy #startwithwhy #liveyourwhy …see more

Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love. Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can't get you the oxygen you're fighting for. The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. Tom GoodwinWhen a plane takes off, it takes off into the wind. For the first 5-15 mins it’s goal is only to gain altitude, to trim its wing to be more efficient and go further, to get to what it’s made to do, fly. The distance covered in that time is often in the wrong direction or not far. It doesn’t matter in the scheme of things . In a non patronizing way, this always seems like how people should think of the first jobs in their career. The good news? Ask any successful business leader, manager, parent, soldier, preacher, teacher or health care provider and they will tell you this: You will never achieve success unless you have looked into the abyss of failure, made your peace with it, respect it for the test it made you take and above all moved on and upward. For each generation the test is different that is why you can't study for it, you just have to take it. Its called experience and you can't achieve success without it. James AltucherHOW TO FIND SUCCESS LATE IN LIFE: There's a simple answer: do whatever you want. Then it all adds up. If you try to get 1% better each day at your health, at your relationships and the way you treat people, at your creativity, and at turning despair into gratitude, then that 1% compounds into an amazing person. Do that 1%. Take one action. Even if the actions is for one minute. The 1/1/1 strategy. I know this. Because I'm still compounding. What is 1%? Whatever you want it to be. The math of life is multi-dimensional. What happens to amazing people? Everything happens to them. And you never worry about what you accomplish. Because there is no ONE thing. There is EVERY thing. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhook, or clay pots, or grinding stones. But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization is #compassion . A femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed was discovered from an ancient culture 15,000 years ago. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink, or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal. A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. “Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts,” Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, #committed citizens can’t #change the world; For, indeed, that's all who ever have.” We are at our best when we serve others. Tom GoodwinI'm sure it's very different for many people, but I'm thinking for many people the last week has been FAR harder than the first. Between the anxiety of a unknown spreading medical condition that's being covered 24/7 , the stress of being locked up inside & being asked to work hard at your job, be a teacher and a parent at the same time. All with the uncertainty of when life will come back, what life will look like and incredible stresses on finances, relationships, health. We've lost any sense of normality, routine, predictability, or events we know we can look forward to. And we're doing this with reduced access to the places which make us feel better & give us perspective, being separated from those who make us feel better, and with media and algorithms continually trying to whip us into a frenzied paranoid mob. So hang on in there, I sure everyone is doing incredibly well, it's OK to not be OK, in fact if you're not, it's a miracle. And let's try to be forgiving and nice. …see more

Vani Kola‘The trouble with most of us is we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism.’ – Norman Vincent Peale, author of ‘The Power of Positive Thinking.’ Welcoming criticism is easier said than done. Undoubtedly feeling hurt and of being judged is inevitable. Sometimes we have to ignore criticism because it can also cripple us from proceeding on unknown paths. How to incorporate #criticism into our journey? 1. Introspect - Evaluate the comment in a detached and objective way. 2. Think from your heart - Don’t be angry with the person, see them as your well-wishers in your evolution. If possible, thank the person for giving you feedback. 3. Understand the gaps - Some times the gaps are real and many times a perception. Resolve to make small changes you can make to be the person you want to be. When giving critical feedback; the tone, the words, and the intent matters. 1. Bertha Benz is one of them, in none other than the Automobile industry. Historically, the #automotiveindustry has been driven by men. Mary Barra became the first female CEO of General Motors . But Bertha Benz was a woman who defied convention then and today. Her husband, Karl Benz, was the inventor. She was the #Investor ! She firmly believed in an automobile's opportunity when it was never considered a means of transportation. She was the business partner and also held the Patent rights though her name as a woman was not allowed on it. She was the first person to drive an automobile over a long distance ever (5 August 1888), rigorously field testing the patent Motorwagen, inventing brake pads, and solving several practical issues during the 65 miles (105 km) trip. She brought the Benz Patent-Motorwagen worldwide attention and got the company its first sales. Karl Benz wrote the following in his memoirs: "Only one person remained with me in the small ship of life when it seemed destined to sink. That was my wife. Bravely and resolutely, she set the new sails of #hope ." #Inspiration #Innovation Video Credits: Mercedes-Benz USA …see more

Amy BlaschkaMy advice on how to navigate these crazy times? Be kind, be patient, be human. Be kind to everyone, for we’re dealing with unprecedented times where people are grieving multiple losses, from their jobs to treasured loved ones. A kind word and heartfelt gesture go a long way. Be patient, because we’re all just doing our best. When you encounter something upsetting, take a beat before reacting and pause before lashing out. Acceptance and tolerance are welcomed and encouraged. Be human, because before we were clients or vendors, salespeople or CEOs, we were people. And right now, people need each other more than ever. Yes, things are out of control and crazy. I know you're scared and angry and frustrated—so am I. But being mean, impatient, and cruel will not help things. Instead, be kind, be patient, and be human. #leadership #bestadvice #career …see more

James AltucherPersistence is not something you do with external goals, but it is something you do internally. It's the fire you keep trying to start inside yourself until it grows and becomes bigger and bigger. Then everything you touch feels your magic, your presence, your power, your persistence. It is the persistence that comes with preparation. You do this by every day checking the box: "did I improve physically", "did I make my life better emotionally", "did I make my life better mentally", "did I make my life better spiritually". Don't get sucked into past failures. Don't fantasize about future success. Just today: did you check the box. Did you ignite the fire. Accepting that suffering is going to happen, and understanding that accepting that suffering ultimately leads to success, is the key to persistence, is the key to ultimate success. Chantel SoumisYOU being YOU is basically magic and there's math behind it 👇 Harvard published a fascinating infographic that lays out all the math required to calculate the probability of you becoming YOU. The numbers get CRAZY! Researchers compared the probability of a person's unique existence to the probability of 2 MILLION people getting together to play a game using one TRILLION-sided die. The odds of you being born as exactly you are basically the same as the odds of all those two million people rolling that trillion-sided dice and all coming up with the EXACT SAME NUMBER. It's virtually impossible. 🤯 Today we discussed SELF-WORTH and how common a lack of self-love is in adults--something we lose from traumas and events in adolescence. But you don't have to STAY that way! You can change who you are and be whom you want to be. It takes WORK and it is NOT easy... ...but nothing worth having comes easy. #growth …see more

Amy BlaschkaShifting your mindset to the possibilities of a situation helps you not only while you’re in the midst of a trying time, but it also enables you to reframe future scenarios so you can thrive. Here’s how: Add “yet” When you add the word “yet” after a negative statement, it transforms it into a more positive one, implies that there will be a future solution and that the current situation is only temporary. Swap “have to” with “get to” When you swap out an “I have to” with “I get to,” everything changes. Having to do something feels like a chore; getting to do something feels like a reward. Turn “Yes, but...” into “Yes, and...” When you’re stressed, your reaction to a suggestion might be, “Yes, but...” which shuts things down. Instead, try saying, “Yes, and…” which invites collaboration and builds on ideas. Find the good When you find yourself dwelling on a tough situation, try responding by saying to yourself, “This is good because...” and then list all the ways why there might be a positive angle to the current scenario. Shift from “I’m going through this” to “I’m growing through this” Going through something is deflating and passive, whereas growing through something is action-oriented, positive, and empowering. #career #progress #reframing …see more

Amy BlaschkaYou're probably familiar with the parable of the three bricklayers, which goes something like this: Once upon a time, a traveler came upon three bricklayers. When asked by the traveler, "What are you doing?" the first bricklayer replied, "I'm laying bricks." Asked the same question, the second bricklayer answered, "I'm putting up a wall." The third bricklayer considered the query and responded with pride in his voice, "I'm building a cathedral." This story underscores an element crucial for your career growth: perspective. That's okay. What you say is valid. What they say is valid too. What you say, what they say are: Different experiences. Different points of views. Much of the time, the hate is a reflection of their own internal struggles. Be stoic. Don't take it personally. Otherwise, you carry that energy and it will spiral you into a cycle of self-hate. I've been through that cycle. I learnt to build a thicker amour. I'm strengthened in my value of sharing knowledge. I walk my own path. The biggest obstacle is not their hate. Or critiques. Amy BlaschkaWhen am I most impressed? When I witness purity of purpose and talent. There are a lot of talented folks who work tirelessly… but yearn to do something that aligns with their purpose. They spin their wheels to be productive and get ahead (and often do, by conventional standards) but never feel fulfilled. Some know their purpose... but are too scared to take action, pushing their true talent to the background. They tell themselves that what they’re doing is good enough, but also are left feeling unfulfilled. But every once in a while, I catch a glimpse of someone brave enough to align their purpose with their talent. I say brave because make no mistake, it can be terrifying to cast aside those things you’ve always done, the so-called “talents” that you’ve hidden behind while you were waiting for the right time to come forward with your true calling. You’re vulnerable. Exposed. You might be challenged or ridiculed. And still, you push through. But it can also be exhilarating. A rush to know, deep in your bones, that you’re on the right path. And so worth it. I’m inspired by your unstoppable energy. Motivated to keep going. Awestruck at your positive transformation. Chantel SoumisTIP 7: REMEMBER HOW FAR YOU’VE COME! You have seen and done things that have been challenging at best and it’s hard to appreciate where you are today without acknowledging where you’ve been. Remember those days of searching through the recliner to find enough money for gas to get to work? Or when you were happy that “fasting” was cool because you couldn’t afford groceries until payday? Or when you couldn’t afford to fix your windshield wipers, so you tied strings to them and pulled them to clear your windshield from the rain? Oh yes. I feel you. Remember that and feel empowered. Look how far you’ve come! Just please be careful not to trigger trauma in your reflection. REFRESH: 1️⃣ Be Present – Find your anchor to remind you. 2️⃣ Reminisce – Don’t let happy memories go to waste! 3️⃣ Acknowledge – Acknowledge the invisible. 4️⃣ Neuroplasticity – Think positive thoughts for every negative one. 5️⃣ Compliment – Give kind notes often. 6️⃣ Pause – Practice deep breathing exercises. Yasi BaianiToday, I was inspired by Coach Paul at Barry Bootcamp who pushed me to go above what I put my mindset on, burned 485 calories and sweat like there’s no tomorrow. 💪🏻 Most importantly, he did it the way an AWESOME coach will do: MOTIVATE you and make you BELIEVE everything is possible. I shared a few of his quotes which made me to push myself throughout this workout as I think these are extremely relevant for life and work in general. Hopefully these will get you all pumped up and ready to go for setting/beating your personal records and crafting your NEW YEAR resolutions: 1) “Every time you want to give up, you know it’s a critical time that CHANGE will be happening if you keep pushing forward, so you can’t quit at that point!” 2) “Have you set a goal and ready to beat that?! If not, who would sign up to do “hard things”, in this case Barry Bootcamp (those of you who have done it before can relate), 😁without a clear goal in mind? 3) Don’t settle to “status quo” or “your base” even though that’s comfortable. Always push for the next level!” Thanks Coach Paul! #newyearresolution #newyearreaolutions #fitness #clearyourmind #healthandfitness #thoughtleadership #motivateothers #motivations #winning #leadership #championofchange #changeyourmindset #bestcoaches …see more

Amy BlaschkaYou’re only one decision away from a totally different life. Making a positive, life-changing decision requires three steps for success: 1. Awareness When we’re unhappy, it can often feel like there’s no way out, but you always have options. The first step in making a #choice is the #awareness that you have one. At this stage, it’s not about editing yourself on what’s possible; it’s about being mindful that change starts with you and your attitude. (Note: choosing not to make a change is also a choice; if you’re not changing it, you’re choosing it.) 2. Attention with Intention Once you’ve realized that change is an internal job, consider those things within your control and how they impact—for better or worse—what you want. Bring your #attention to your #intention , and ask yourself what’s the one thing you can do right now to bring you closer to your #goals . This need not be a grandiose, sweeping gesture; the biggest change starts with a small step in a new direction. 3. Action This last step may seem obvious, but far too often, we fail to act even when we know that making a change is in our best interest. Nothing changes if nothing changes. And action begets more action, giving us the much-needed momentum to keep going, no matter how slowly we start. #leadership #career …see more

It chronicles the life of Jane Goodall and her dedication to making the world aware of the potential of Chimpanzees and the perils they face. I was both inspired and moved. It made me think how one person can create a large impact, one step at a time, one day at a time. Can you imagine the passion and dedication that she has! She spent more than 60 years relentlessly focused on one cause. She made a big difference to my own understanding of nature and our origins and the need to share this planet with all living things. Amy BlaschkaEven those who have earned a reputation of reliability with others may find themselves failing to keep the most important #promises of all: the ones they make to themselves. Here’s how: Make sure they’re what you really want Before you can keep promises to yourself, you have to confirm that they’re still relevant & meaningful to you. Be honest about why you’ve let things slide Fear—of failure, success, and what others may say or think about you—or believing you’re not worthy of such a lofty ambition can hold you back from keeping the promises you make to yourself. Prioritize and schedule time for them Carve out non-negotiable space every day to work on your #goals , even if it’s just 15 minutes. Protect this time by scheduling it first. Tell another human being It’s one thing to write something down in a private journal or tape it to your office wall where only you will see it; it’s quite another to speak your intentions out loud to another person. Break it down into smaller chunks Keeping a promise to yourself usually involves more than a single bold, sweeping gesture; it’s typically a series of actions, done consistently, that matter most. Track your #progress & celebrate the small wins This helps remind you how far you’ve come and what’s left to do. #leadership #career …see more

Nir EyalYou have three life domains: Work, Relationships, and You. At the center of these domains is you. You require maintenance and care, which takes time. After all, who’s more critical to helping you live the kind of life you want than you? Exercise, sleep, healthy meals, and time spent reading or listening to an audiobook are all ways to invest in ourselves. Taking care of yourself is at the core of the three domains because the other two depend on your health and wellness. If you’re not taking care of yourself, your relationships suffer. Likewise, your work isn’t its best when you haven’t given yourself the time you need to stay physically and psychologically healthy. At a basic physiological level, we need time in our schedules for sleep, hygiene, movement, and proper nourishment. You also need time for psychological or spiritual fulfillment like prayer or meditation, intellectual enrichment like reading a book or taking an online course, and time for fun activities like playing video games or painting. By setting aside time to live out your values in the “You” domain, you will be able to actualize the qualities of the person you want to be. Yasi Baiani"I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. " -Martin Luther King Jr There's so much to learn from a leader like Marin Luther King! The discriminations against one's gender, color, and background are unfortunately still prevalent at work, home, and society. We all see them & experience them. With less than 1% of Fortune 500 CEOs being Black (3 out of 500 to be exact) and only 3.2% of the senior leadership roles at large companies in the U.S. being Black, we need to change our perspectives to hiring, promoting, and empowering people of different backgrounds, ethnicities and genders. Research after research validated that diversity of all kinds in the leadership teams will result in higher business outcomes. We need to set minorities for success or else organizations will fall behind in competition and individuals will suffer. Let's stand for what's right! Let's speak up when we see people discriminate, have unconscious biases, bully, or exclude others. Change starts from each and everyone of us! Amy BlaschkaFor so many of us, 2020 has been the year that won’t let up.😫 In these crazy times, #uncertainty continues to plague us in business can be crippling—or empowering—if we allow it to be. Here are some reminders to help you navigate a “what if” world: You can’t control what happens; you can only control how you respond.✅ No one asked for the year that 2020 has been and continues to be. Rather than ponder why this is happening and lament circumstances affecting your #career , remember there is one thing you can control: your response. Be mindful of what you consume.🧠 “You are what you eat” doesn’t only pertain to food; the same can be said in terms of the information you consume and its effects on your mental and physical wellbeing. Be aware of the people and sources you allow into your orbit, limit your exposure to those that trigger you, and seek additional perspectives that provide a balance of encouragement and #positivity . #Perspective is everything.😄 Asking and answering “What if?” tends to bring out extreme anxiety. But remember, you always have two choices: the worst-case scenario where you’re paralyzed by fear or the best-case scenario where you allow yourself to imagine the possibilities and become empowered by the potential of good. #leadership #awareness …see more

Amy BlaschkaYour biggest #career saboteur is often someone you wouldn’t expect who can be harsher than any external force—YOU. Here’s how to quiet your inner critic: Think progress, not perfection When things don’t exactly go as planned, reframe your expectations and perception—taking a risk results in one of two things: success or learning. Either way, that’s #progress , which deserves to be celebrated. Swap self-criticism for supportive self-talk Many of us unconsciously fall victim to self-sabotaging talk. By upping your awareness of your use of negative #selftalk , you’ll see how self-defeating it can be and can instead replace it with something more supportive. Treat yourself the way you would a treasured friend Cut yourself some slack and employ #selfcompassion to help you reframe the situation, view yourself as a work-in-progress, and treat yourself with #kindness . Ask for feedback from trusted allies When you see yourself through the eyes of a friend, mentor or colleague, you’ll get a more balanced and supportive perspective than your own and quell your self-sabotage. Prioritize your well-being Being intentional with your #selfcare not only replenishes you by nourishing your body, enriching your mind, and recharging your spirit; it also helps silence your inner critic. …see more

Yasi BaianiToday my Lyft driver was a total inspiration! He lost 140 lbs in 2017; he quit drinking, he got back to working out (he works out 4am to fit it into his schedule), and he reverted his Type 2 Diabetes as a result. 👌🏻👏🏻 His trigger for all these changes: his mother got really sick and asked him quit drinking and try to be healthy. He was glad to do it as he lost his Mother 9 months through these changes. What are you planning to achieve or change in 2018? Where could you find triggers that deeply matter to you? My big lifestyle change I aim to achieve is to get back to meditation. I used to do it and lost the practice due to super busy lifestyle. Amy BlaschkaWhat if… You believed you could conquer the world? You gave yourself permission to be your awesome, authentic self? You stopped worrying about what other people might think? You courageously came out of the shadows? You followed your passion? You stepped out of your comfort zone and into growth? You took a chance? You believed in yourself and your abilities? You were unapologetically you? You took a deep breath and went for it? You said no to the negative things and people that no longer serve you? You said yes to the positive things and people who get you? You knew your true purpose? You weren’t entirely sure, but kept moving forward anyway? You had no regrets or failures, only life lessons? You allowed your curiosity to guide you to new experiences? You transformed into the person you always knew you could be? You embraced life’s infinite possibilities? You asked yourself, “What if?” And, what if… I told you it was okay to do all of the above to inspire you to leap even though you were scared and nervous about taking that first step? Would you? I hope so. Never forget that you are the author of your story; write one that makes you happy. (Consider this your encouraging nudge.) #career #growth #motivation …see more

Amy BlaschkaWhat prevents—and fuels—your progress is not external; it’s internal. If you want a better career, you have to change the stories you tell yourself; here’s how: First, audit your self-talk Without even realizing it, you might fall victim to an all-too-common practice of self-sabotaging talk. You fill your head with negative stories like “I’m not good enough” that prevent you from learning and growing. Reflect on your self-talk: what stories are you telling yourself? Next, experiment with a new story that aligns with your goals Once you’ve acknowledged your negative self-talk, allow yourself to explore positive possibilities. Experiment with a new story by completing the phrase, “I am...” with what you really want. Finally, change the way you tell your story to others The stories you tell yourself also inform what you tell others about you. They can position you for success or remove you from consideration. If those stories don’t give you a fair shake, they’ll diminish your desires, and conceal and deprive others of the highest and best use of your talents. Words have power, and the stories we tell ourselves are the most important words we speak. Make sure that they’re positive, aligned with your goals, and mirror what you tell others. #career #positioning #selftalk …see more

Amy BlaschkaIt’s not how you start; it’s how you finish. I’ve said this countless times to our girls, especially when they have a rough start in class or a game. But lately, I’ve been uttering it to myself. Aside from the sheer awfulness of COVID-19, there’s so much negativity and bad news. I’ll be honest, it sucks. I’ve found it hard to focus, my sleeping has suffered, and my motivation and creativity have been severely challenged. I’m also way more sensitive than usual (which is saying a lot), so even the petty and unfair digs I’ve learned to ignore have found a way to creep back in and leave an invisible scar. As someone known as a “glowing ball of happiness” who frequently writes about emotional intelligence, mindset, and positivity, I know (logically) that I have a choice. But sometimes, I need a reminder. (And maybe you do, too.) I truly believe that there is far more goodness, light, encouragement, support, and love in the world than evil, darkness, negativity, and hatred. Focusing on the former helps us generate more of it. From a kind word to a selfless act, you have the power to improve someone’s day, week, life. So let’s turn this around. Because it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Let’s finish strong together. #positivity #perspective #mindset …see more

And how do we know if we're living out our values? We turn them into time. In order to live with personal integrity and on our own terms, we must schedule our time in alignment with our values. If health is important to you, set aside time to go for a walk. If education is one of your values, make time to read. Amy BlaschkaHere are five reasons why saying yes is one of the best decisions you can make for your career: 1. It opens you up to new challenges and opportunities. If you wait until you feel ready to pursue an opportunity, chances are it’ll pass you by. Saying yes means that you’re open to moving past your comfort zone and embracing a new challenge. 2. It invites collaboration. There’s a reason improvisation is rooted in the phrase, “Yes, and...” Unlike no, which shuts down conversations and progress, saying yes opens up positive possibilities and invites others to build together, fostering collaboration, partnership, and further discussion. 3. It empowers and affirms others. As a leader, choosing to say yes acts as an affirmation to others and their ideas: I hear what you just said. You’re paying attention, and they matter. And giving the green light signals trust, which empowers others. 4. It creates an environment where it’s safe to try, fail, learn, and innovate. When you freely say yes, you create a risk-tolerant environment. You encourage innovation by trying new things and using the successes and failures as learning opportunities. 5. It makes life more fun. Saying yes can bring you new sources of joy and lead you on an incredible adventure. #leadership #career #growth …see more

Yasi BaianiHappy International Women’s Day! There’s so much work to be done to create full equality, to close the pay gap, and to resolve gender bias. It’s an attempt every day! It’s an attitude of not giving up all the time! More power to all my sisters out there who push for what they believe in, to challenge the status quo, to struggle to balance their family obligations with high impact works, and to aim to create a better future for the next generation. Although in the Western world we’re struggling for such rights as women, unfortunately in other parts of the world millions of women are still fighting for a lot more basic rights such as not being forced to marriage at young age, being raped to save their own/their families’ lives, to go to work or to school, or being able to drive. Today, I want to invite all of us (men & women) to be more aware of our own gender bias, to acknowledge women’s ideas the same way we value those of men’s, to not harshly judge women who are wearing multiple hats in families and society by none reasonable metrics, and to reach out and donate to organizations throughout the world that support women especially those help with education and prevent domestic violence, abuse, and human trafficking. Amy BlaschkaBefore I pop out of bed each morning, I make a conscious choice. I’m not talking about what to have for breakfast, what to wear, or even what workout I’m going to tackle. The first thing I decide is how my day is going to be. True, we have no control over external things. The power and wi-fi could go out. Clients could cancel calls. Your dog could decide that today is an excellent day to rummage through the garbage. All those things suck; all have happened to me. And while I can’t control what the universe throws at me on any given day, I can control how I respond by making a proactive choice about my mood, attitude, and mindset. What if today turned out to be the best, most productive day you’ve had in some time? What if you used life’s curveballs as fuel for creativity and growth to accomplish magnificent things? What if you decided that no matter what, you’d look for the good, seek out the positive, and encourage others to do the same, perpetuating a virtuous cycle? Energy begets energy. Amy BlaschkaAre you feeling stuck, figuratively and literally? With the mandated shelter-in-place orders enacted for our collective safety, it’s hard not to be frustrated and antsy, especially if you’re someone who thrives on making progress. Though it might sound counterintuitive, sometimes, the best way to move forward is to go backward; here’s how: First, take time to reflect Before the coronavirus crisis, you likely felt over-programmed and overworked with no time to think. Now is the perfect time to harness the power of the pause and take a break. To maximize this period, slow down and carve out time in your calendar for quiet reflection. Next, refocus your efforts After you’ve reflected, record, and review your thoughts to see if any common themes emerge. Now’s the time to refocus your efforts on looking for new opportunities that align your skillset or offering with current demand. Finally, re-engage by taking action Once you’ve had time to reflect and refocus your efforts, create and execute a plan. Taking action is the antidote to fear, doubt, and anxiety—and stagnation. In these trying times, re-engaging by taking action helps move you closer to your goals, which spurs you on; action begets more action. #career #progress #coronavirus …see more

Nick CiubotariuAs the majority of folks norm to the new reality of working from home, practicing #socialdistance , sanitize frequently, etc., we are all going through emotions ranging from amusement to restlessness, to anger, etc. I would just like to take a moment and recognize the Herculean efforts and sacrifices being made by first responders, hospital staff (nurses especially), retail staff, government workers, and especially our military. They don't have the luxury of working from home. They can't practice social distancing. They are literally and figuratively fighting for our lives while jeopardizing theirs, during the most uncertain and unprecedented time I've ever encountered. Thank you for everything you do. Truly humbled. #grateful …see more

Quentin Michael AllumsNote to future self: I [we] have a lot of goals. And whether you’re reading this a year from now, 5, or just a few days from now. I need you to know that I’m putting in the work to get us to where we want to be. And I need you to do the same. Even when it’s hard. Even when you don’t feel like it. Even when you feel insignificant. We got this. What would you say to your future self? #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 📸 Brema Brema …see more

Amy BlaschkaThough you can’t manage external circumstances, you can control your behavior, #mindset , and #perspective . Here are three choices can you make that will dramatically improve (or hinder) your ability to navigate difficult situations: 1. React or Respond It’s natural to fear things we question or don’t understand and immediately react, but that’s not always best, especially in an emotionally-charged situation. Instead, press the pause button and take a beat to digest and consider information before responding to it. 2. “I’m going through this” or “I’m growing through this” “I’m going through this” can be demoralizing, deflating, and passive. You remain pessimistic and primarily driven by fear, resigned to the status quo. However, “I’m growing through this” is action-oriented, positive, and empowering. It means you’ll come out of your current circumstances with newly acquired wisdom, changed for the better. 3. Negative or Positive When bad or unexpected things happen, it can throw us into a tailspin. It’s easy to fall into a negative headspace. But when practicing positivity, we tend to be more curious and tolerant of new ideas and people and are less likely to be thrown off course because of unexpected setbacks. #leadership #EQ #positivity …see more

Justin BarisoLet's get one thing straight: You can't rush quality. You can't do it with your biggest client, or project. You can't do it when communicating with your team. You can't do it with the time you spend with your loved ones. That's why setting priorities is so, so important. You won't get as much done as you want today. Not tomorrow, either. So, ask yourself: What's most important to me? Let that answer guide the way you schedule your time. Because you've only got one life to live. So make it count. …see more

Amy BlaschkaLet’s be honest: 2020 has been a sh*tshow. 💩 But a year from now, your life and career could look entirely different. Use the power of #visualization to pen a letter to your future self and be sure to: Make it aspirational 🌟 Don’t be afraid to dream big. To achieve something you never had, you need to do something you’ve never done, and right now, that might mean dropping your limiting beliefs and closed #mindset . Consider this: if all the bad events of 2020 can happen, why can’t the pendulum swing the other direction? Make it specific 🎯 When you have #clarity about your future, you can more easily envision it. Imagine it’s September 2021—what, specifically, do you hope to be celebrating? What do your life and career look like? Challenge yourself to be curious about the possibilities. Make it positive 👍 With so much negativity thrown at us in 2020, it’s easy to dwell on what’s gone wrong. And that’s okay, as long as you use looking back as a chance to learn. Use that information to reframe your experiences in a positive manner to help you make #progress and envision your #goals . The beauty of writing your future self a letter is that you control the narrative. And this is one story that is sure to have a happy ending.✨ #leadership #career #perspective …see more

Carson Tate“Time is money,” the old saying has it. But that’s wrong. Time is more valuable than money. You need to start treating it that way. Why? Because you can go an earn more money later, but you’ll never get your time back. Kick off 2018 by deciding to invest your time wisely! http://bit.ly/2CK7KBK …see more
