I’ve been plagued with scam calls these past few weeks and decided to end it once and for all... So yesterday I received the same call I have been receiving for the past few weeks asking me if I had recently been in a car accident. Previously I have either said no, told them to go away (or words to that effect) or hung up on them. But the calls persisted. So I took a different tack yesterday and the conversation went like this... Caller: we believe you have recently had a car accident? Me: yes that’s correct Caller: ok could you tell me when the accident occurred and where? Me: it was last week and it was way up North Caller: could you tell me about the driver of the other car? Me: sure he was a male, quite chubby, long grey beard and was wearing a red coat. Said he was in the area delivering gifts Caller: ok did you get his name? Me: yes it was Nicolas Claus Caller: and what was the name and model of his vehicle? Me: well it was an open top with runners instead of wheels Caller: erm, ok do you know the make, model and engine size? Me: not sure of the make or model but it was powered by several reindeer... When the smart scale did everything but showing my weight - in its most confused moments, it just says "Hi 🙂" 3. When the tricorder claimed my SpO2 was 90% (dreadfully low!), and suggested that it might be due to nail polish 4. When my wife's blood pressure results suddenly appeared on my phone (while she connected hers to the device and she was there, already registered) 5. Watching health experts involuntarily, but constantly touching their faces while warning against touching your face is comic - on the other hand, it perfectly illustrates how much easier it is said than done. Of course a startup already grabbed the opportunity and came up with a wristband against that - it vibrates when you move your hand towards your face. Its goal is to develop a Pavlovian response with time, so that by the end you resist the urge to scratch or poke yourself - thus stopping the spread of germs for your own and all the others' safety.
