Last week, I spoke with a recent grad who asked for advice on how to find "aha moments" in his career and life. My response was that you cannot map or prepare every step of your career to optimize for aha moments. Instead, aha moments come, go, and may reemerge just like opportunities. Instead of anticipating for aha moments, keep a curious and open mind on opportunities that come your way. Be surrounded by peers and mentors who can help identify these moments. Aha moments will come in different shapes and sizes, but also at different times. It's so so easy to start comparing ourselves to others then try to expedite our own timeline. While some competition is healthy and we should always act with a sense of urgency, never feel that need to fit and adhere yourselves to someone else's timeline.
