When we make decisions on gut, it's not making decisions without data. It's making decisions with incredible amounts of data. In fact so much data that we're not able to comprehend what we've done, so we think of it as "gut" Many would say we drive using our "gut", we see the body language of a kid & think they may jump out after a ball. We're processing enormous amounts of pure objective data in ways we discount as "feeling". Sportspeople are also good examples. When we make decisions with data, we're either picking data we found easily because someone wanted to persuade us, or we're using our own bias based on what we wanted to think and find or on who we decided to ask or listen to. When we make decisions with data, we're processing tiny amounts of messy data in ways we overvalue as "data driven decisions" I really wish we could come to love and respect and develop the innate human qualities we all have in spades, be more aware of the problems of bias involved in this & work against that and to stop our unwavering respect and love of data. ( Clearly this doesn't apply to everything, weather forecasts are better with super computers than feelings,)
