Building a modern business is no longer "building", it's assembly. "Making" a mobile phone in 2005 meant creating your own hardware and making your own software, now it's using licensing software and assembling components. "Car Makers" in 2010 put 30,000 components together, 1,000 of which moved. Car makers today can use a "Skateboard" and build far more simply and quickly, modern car's can be developed in a year, one of the fastest cars in the world is made by Rimac with a handful of staff and little experience. Modern companies don't need to own mainframes, or construct anything, they simply "rent" prefabricated software which they license and they arrange techstacks around their needs. It becomes more about interfaces and interoperability than constructions. It's more proof that it's now faster, easier and cheaper and with less risk to build than ever, and likely harder, more culturally complex & slower to change. Increasingly your expertise moves from being less unhelpful to being a barrier to change. Your assets become anchors not foundations. Your ability to learn more important than your ability to know. https://lnkd.in/dKe8ejc
