You know what works really well still, despite what a rabid news environment whips up, common sense. The idea we are all stupid, nasty, with bad intentions, is a horrible new idea. Trust people, assume they mean well and be rewarded. Try to squash people, assume they are stupid, threaten them or remove their freedom and yes, people act out.
