I spent many years around 2005-2012 thinking what the internet would mean for us all. It always seemed it would lead to more connections, more understanding, more scrutiny, more compassion and empathy, and greater knowledge. Yet here we are in 2020 divided by algorithms, whipped into a frenzy by politicians with an energy and vigor that suits the media models we picked to monetize and weaponize our outrage. We laugh at conspiracy theorists when it’s the symptom of distrust and curious brains. We laugh at the “wrong political side” because we think they’ve been conned.
