We've mainly had technology that starts out as a toy for rich people, then becomes increasingly useful for rich people, then moves down and spreads further based on wealth/income.  I wonder what technology can work the other way around and help those in need first. 3D printed homes could help those with very little. Could solar power leapfrog power grids?  Graphene can desalinate sea water. Mobile banking helps the unbanked. Secure treatment of property deeds would provide security for many ( and allow people to borrow money affordably) .
