Weird people think Uber's $1.2bn loss is surprising. Most new wave companies burn hoards of cash and hope to escape the gravitational pull of economics and into "space" where they are so big that gravity doesn't apply and they self sustain. Companies like Uber, Airbnb, Amazon either become the largest businesses imaginable, or crash harder than the world has ever known.
