Amen to this sentiment. Nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists do not study hard, take exams and dedicate their lives to caring for others just to be mistreated, disrespected and not listened to by patients. I’ll say this again: healthcare professionals do not have to take care of sick people —they can refuse to care for a patient or stop working all together. Our healthcare providers are becoming burned out and bummed out. Healthcare professionals receive profound satisfaction from taking care of patients. However, they too have limits and nothing rubs caregivers the wrong way more than patients who don’t show personal accountability for their actions and behaviors. “They tell you there must be another reason (besides COVID) they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that ‘stuff’ because they don’t have covid because it’s not real. Yes. This really happens.”
