This Article Should Be Retitled: Help—or at Least Smile—at People in Pain What would it take to save a life? Perhaps only eye contact, or a simple smile. In a recent post, I wrote about a (possibly) homeless man on public transportation and a lot of LinkedIn comments included asking me if I did anything to help him? Really they wanted to know if I solved the problem. (Answer: yes and no). But it’s the right question to ask. “Did I help?” It’s the right question to ask of ourselves (instead of asking this of others) when we see people distraught or confused or lost or suffering.
