Here I am again cheerleading for an "Outsider" to come to Healthcare's aide! I've been a consistent advocate for new entrants with bold ideas driven by creative, optimistic leaders, to provide CPR! Like Apple and Amazon. My belief is that "The Healthcare Institutional Mindset" (including hospitals, nursing facilities and delivering systems) is one which is fundamentally risk-adverse, backwards-thinking and myopic. Within these organizations you will not find "skunk works" or "innovation labs" or "stealthy teams" working on new approaches to patient care. In healthcare we are designed (and hire) for being slow, cautious and repetitious ... even if doing the same thing over and over leads to the same mediocre and disappointing results. Again I say "Apple, come find me! I'm just up the road and am here to help improve care delivery for patients !"
