I've founded (and sold) two startup companies in my life. And one of my biggest takeaways? It's not exactly a fun job 😂 For as much hype and praise entrepreneurship gets, it's an incredibly stressful job that will leave you drained. And when it's not clear whose responsibility something is? Congratulations, it's yours! Now that I've moved into a role as an investor, I interact with a lot of startup founders and one thing I always tell them is that they really only have one job: prioritize. CEOs are professional prioritizers. Everything else is secondary. This brings me to the biggest issue I have with founders... They're sharp and capable of performing at a high-level, but they make no time in their day for their key responsibility of prioritizing. They are so busy responding to emails, Slack messages, and in Zoom waiting rooms, they don't make time to plan long term goals and scale their company. And so my advice to every founder is this: Make time to think. It is quite literally a competitive advantage. While other people are distracted, running from task to task, you'll be able to do the strategic thinking necessary to build a viable company. Are you a founder? How do you prioritize? #Founders #Scale #Advantage
