I want to make one thing clear about digital distraction: We are not puppets on a string. Often, people swear that technology is more distracting than ever before -- or worse yet, they say that we're all “addicted.” But that outdated view ignores the fact that we are more powerful than the tech. Yes, there are some categories where this doesn’t apply — people who are pathologically addicted or children who may not be old enough to moderate their behaviors on their own — but the vast majority of us can learn to moderate our behavior. My goal is to give people the tools to understand how to get the best out of technology without letting it get the best of them.
