Want to be a domain expert? Get a day job. In order to know what to be a domain expert in, you have to get domain expertise. How do you get domain expertise? You spend a lot of time in a domain. How do you do that? You need something to drive you to get past that hump of having to catch up with the experts. That takes time. It takes time to read what others have written, to debate the things in your own mind, to note the flaws of the way you see the world so that you can see it more clearly. Don’t rush.
