The difference between traction and distraction isn’t the activity in question, it’s intent. If you find yourself doing something you intended to, you’re experiencing traction. If you find yourself doing something you weren’t intending to, you’re experiencing distraction. Psychologists have verified that if we plan ahead, if you decide what you plan to do with your time, you become far more likely to follow through. By simply planning what we want to do with our time, we can overcome many of our distractions. Don’t leave any empty space on your calendar. If you have white space on your calendar, somebody is going to plan your time for you, unless you’ve decided in advance what you want to do with it. What are some of the things you schedule time for?
