Sometimes when I am dealing with a dilemma, I reach out to someone who I respect to help me think through the situation. Those are the people whom I consider as my mentors. Mentors need to bring, the context to deal with the problem at hand, to the table. They need to be honest and objective in their feedback or dialogue while bringing in empathy.
