With 90% of the top 20 global tech companies in either Western US or Eastern China, why are other regions so far behind? I think concentration of wealth behaves much like gravity - attracting even more capital & talent, making its pull too strong for other smaller ecosystems to match. Even in the wake of the #FlipkartWalmartDeal, I sensed dismay in the ecosystem that India still hasn’t built independent products of global significance. An interesting statistic though, is that 51% of the billion dollar companies in Silicon Valley are founded & run by immigrants, of which 14% are Indians. India is home to a growing ecosystem of outstanding talent pool, entrepreneurs, investors and capital to create companies that create global impact. We had ~5200 tech startups as of 2017, which is expected to grow >2x by 2020, thanks to a burgeoning digital ecosystem. Much of this growth is within fin-tech & healthcare and these sectors alone represent massive opportunities.  We recently published a report that explores the scale of this opportunity - https://goo.gl/99RHnf . Most of the takeaways strengthen Kalaari's commitment to supporting, enabling and influencing tech entrepreneurs in making products and services that solve large scale problems.  https://lnkd.in/fMD34sw …see more
