I've tested a myriad of ECG devices that patients can use at home. From Kardia to Viatom Checkme Pro, I've seen a range of hardware and app interfaces. As on the photo, AliveCor Inc. obviously stands out. Whenever I mention such technologies in my talks, I get colleagues asking me why a patient would record an ECG at home. I keep on telling them that identifying arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation can be life-saving and that we cannot wait to get checked once every few years at the point-of-care. We want to be the point-of-care. And then this comprehensive study comes out: Screening for Atrial Fibrillation and the Role of Digital Health Technologies It really covers every issue around the subject. It doesn't promote digital health blindly but concludes that while such devices might be used to increase the ease and specificity of screening for AF compared to traditional methods, it still requires further studies.
