In a world where people wear busy like a badge of honor, not being busy can feel awkward and unnatural. But busy does not equal productive. The counterintuitive solution to productivity may lie in the very thing we fear will impede it: slowing down. Here are six ways to jump off the hamster wheel: 1. Order that latte for here. Instead of grabbing yet another to-go coffee, sit down, savor that first sip, resist taking out your smartphone and quietly notice the world around you. 2. Go old school with a pad and pen. There's something about capturing your ideas with pen and paper that drives creativity. 3. Schedule time to do nothing on purpose. Your busy schedule will get even more hectic unless you build into your calendar space to think, observe and listen to your inner voice. 4. Change your environment. Create a distraction-free, quiet space at home or work, or head outside. 6. Engage in activities that invite you to participate at a slower pace. Try meditation or yoga, or channel your inner Einstein, who relied on his daily walk to boost his memory, creativity and problem-solving. 7. Lose the guilt. By unapologetically incorporating periods of stillness, you'll ensure enhanced productivity—and well-being. #leadership #career #productivity …see more
