How many company profiles have you seen with an LGBT+ flag incorporated into their logo this month? We like to talk about pride month as if it doesn’t affect the workplace, but it does. In over 20 states, people can still be fired for their gender identity and sexual orientation. We still struggle to see mass representation of LGBT+ leaders. This pride month, I hope those same companies with rainbow logos are looking at their policies and language around terms like “family values”, “parental leave”, and more that directly affect a person’s relationship between their family and their work. It could be a great catalyst for meaningful conversation on workplace culture and HR benefits.
