One of the key ways for families to build intergenerational wealth is via real estate. But on top of slavery and Jim Crow, there was red-lining by banks and real estate covenants that kept African Americans from being able to tap into that. It might seem surprising to see a co-founder who sold his business buy it back. But to me this makes all the sense in the world. When ZICO Beverages, LLC was sold to The Coca-Cola Company it became just another product line. Odds were high that it would eventually shuttered (which it was announced to be 3 months ago).
