Diversity and inclusion isn't just a black issue. It isn't just a white issue. It isn't just a female issue. Or a youth issue. It's an everybody issue. People seem to forget that there are gatekeepers of power. ALWAYS. So attacking those gatekeepers gets us nowhere as a society and nowhere as professionals. We have to work together. We have to give everyone a seat at the table. A big push for us is bringing on more women in 2020 and diversifying our team in that aspect. Because 1). There are so many talented women out there and saying "they're hard to find" isn't an excuse anymore. And 2). because being diverse will make us SO much better. Diversity of thought is a powerful thing. But that only works if we understand. No more checking the D&I box just for the sake of it. I was pissed at myself last week because I was hyper focused on a company that copied a few things that we were doing. And then I realized that was so unlike me. I’m obsessed with the Overview Effect. Which is a concept that a lot of astronauts explain when they go into outer space for the first time. The world looks so small & fragile; and you realize that a lot of the things we focus on don’t really matter. I always want to be relentless when it comes to achieving the MISSION that I’ve set out to achieve. And doing it with people I love. Collaborating instead of focusing on the competition.
