If you’re getting into public speaking👇🏽🎤 1). Don’t shy away from the smaller events. They often lead to large scale events. My first one was in front of about 50 people. That’s lead to VidCon, TEDx, and INBOUND. 2). It will vary based off your goals, but don’t just speak to the same people. Barely anyone in this audience knew me. Which was an awesome opportunity to get my name out there. 3). Don’t ever let anyone convince you that you need to be a certain way. We can all definitely improve (I know I can), but find & develop your own style. 4). Remember that you’re speaking to people. It’s not about the numbers. 5). You’re not going to be perfect. You’ll mess up (a lot). Learn from those mistakes. 6). Don’t take all the advice you hear from people like me. Test everything and find what works for you. I left my first job last week. It’s made me realize how much of our identities we tie up in what we do. A couple weeks ago, I had to check my ego. I was telling myself that I was working harder than any of my peers and somehow deserved to be treated differently. I didn't deserve anything. I wasn't the most successful. I hadn't achieved my goals yet. I lost perspective. I think it's important to check our own ego. We sometimes look at goals like...
