Speaking at the CFA Financial Talent Summit in Bangalore, I decided to not focus on facts about career paths, organisational structures etc but - In wealth management you are sitting on the buy side i.e. client side of the table - Choose to be relationship manager or investment adviser/researcher depending on your temperament/interest - Know yourself - what you enjoy doing, what you are good at, what clients will pay for. if you what the world needs, it can be your purpose - It's good to work at the intersection of 2-3 skills you are decent at, if you can't be the best at one thing - Communications skills are very important; I got ahead because of my English speaking and writing (coming from a Hindi medium background) - Do your research before approaching senior people for a job or mentorship; don't waste their time with questions you can google - Build your career such that in 20 years time you can say it was worth it; I haven't spent a day in a job I didn't love - You don't know what skills/contacts you will need until you need them - First blend in, master the rules and then stand out - Prove your value before asking for salary/fees - Write or get written about a niche area in which you become the go-to person #career #cfacareers …see more

#Humanity as a whole is going through a consciousness movement awakening to reflect on Needs vs. Wants. I believe we are moving away from a consumptive to a more minimalistic society. Minimalism should become a defining principle in corporate and leadership philosophies and our personal lives, at all times, good and bad. #WeekendMusings …see more

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door! "Of all of us that started creating content, you seem to be having the most success!" I was catching up with a colleague that I met here in 2018. We became instant sisters in the climb to entrepreneurship with many others on the platform... Some have failed and had to start fresh... Alternatively, I had an exceptional year thanks to LinkedIn, including: ➡️ Paid ALL $XXX,XXX medical bills from a diagnosis and treatment without insurance ➡️ Sold the Camry and bought a Benz which was my dream for years ➡️ Devoted this year to supporting CHARITY and GIVING back to my community (LLS, Pro Bono Consulting) ➡️ And I'm buying my husband the RV he's always dreamt of for Father's Day! ⚠️MY POINT: The importance of QUALITY over quantity. I had a few 5k views per video which turned into 5 qualified leads and 3 clients.. week over week! Unlike MASSIVE creators that have 100k views, I STILL got results! And you can too... Create thought-provoking content and put your heart into everything you do 💘 If you need a push in the right direction, you know where to find me 😜 Who else is driving BIG results?! Let me know below! #entrepreneurship #success #chantelshares …see more

A lot of people ask me to share some of my LinkedIn secrets. So, I've decided to do a small experiment, based on this I'll share some of my tips. I uploaded 2 different posts, both of them "Self Branding" posts that tell the same story- me during corona. Both posts were uploaded at the same hour, same picture and subject (You can check the numbers) and yet one of them gained much more exposure (post A). My explanation is: • Post A is much more personal, I shared my personal goals, feelings and this is what people are looking to read. Tip- don't be afraid to share your feelings and thoughts, you will get much more exposure. • Post A tells a story, compared to post B which is super short and generic. Tip- tell a story and be a storyteller of your career, try to start with a problem and finish with how you solved it. • Post A ends with calling to action, a question. Tip- when you finish with a call to action people will get involved and comment-Boom- more exposure. What do you think? Do you want me to share more of my secrets?:) #linkedin #tips …see more

#Success comes from continually expanding your frontiers in every direction— #creatively, #financially, #spiritually, and #physically. Always ask yourself, what can I improve? Who else can I talk to? Where else can I look?

Cool visual notes drawn during my TEDx in April on how to design a purposeful personal brand. What else would you add to this list of embrace, create, and grow?

I appreciate this sounds obnoxious, I'm sorry but my intentions are good Please be aware many people get 50+ connection requests a day, especially people far more useful, accomplished and interesting than me, of which there are millions. When after 5 days you have lots to go over, it's horrible making snap judgements on who to accept. It's not nice to have to "measure' someone ever, let alone quickly. This means many wonderful people I've declined, by mistake. I think a move towards explaining why you want to connect, or a little about your intensions would be a useful thing for the "requester" ( it's good to think what you want in life) & useful for the "acceptor". Even just saying you want to keep in touch because you have interest X or Y in common. I don't need you to work hard on being "worthy", I just would like you to think. Connections are capped on here, and accepting people who you don't know, can lead to issues when people ask for a "in" to someone later. I'm going to get some rude comments below, but please note I'm only trying to help, life is about creating good problems, and I'm blessed with many, but helping make things easier for everyone is not a distasteful goal, no matter how this reads. …see more

When was chocolate invented? Roald Dahl is a famous children’s author. He shows his humour here, and probably this trait is what made him such a great author. My kids loved reading his book Matilda, their favourite. Do you have any favourite book by Roald Dahl? #Creativity #Fun #WeekendMusings Video Credits: BBC Archive …see more

This one made me chuckle. Even in #ToughTimes , it is important to see the lighter side of things, even if it is just for a moment.

Each company must now have in place, various #risk scenarios based on the potential impact of #COVID -19. There is a business impact of sourcing from China. There is a pandemic impact in terms of workforce. There is a global #economic impact. Not to mention, personal #impact each of us has to plan for, loss of value in the equity market, taking care of a sick family member, workplace impact on financial #planning . Can we share here how you in a personal capacity and #businesses as organizations are planning for this subject? By learning from each other, maybe we might minimize the impact. …see more

Want to attract incredible people and opportunities? Put the work in! Here's how 👇 Engagement is an important buzzword that continues to lose its magic in the world of social media growth and building thought influence... But in order to attract the right people, You need to get out there and FIND them! See a content creator or thought influencer and want to get on their radar? Prove that you are their biggest fan by commenting and actively engaging with them on their content and with their fellow "fans" in the comment section. By going out and finding the people you want to attract, half of the job is already done. There are many opinions about how much focus you should put into your engagement strategy, I suggest 75% of your time on social media should be spent on OTHER creator's content. Not only do you meet incredible people - You learn a lot of new info, too! Def a win-win. So go on and give it a whirl and take your personal brand and thought influence to the next level! #leadership #sales #chantelshares …see more

I was a part-time ghost writer for two years before I launched my first company. Writing other people’s stories for a living. Pretending to be someone else forced me to get real with who I wanted to be. For a lot of my life I felt like a ghost. Always behind the scenes. Always quiet. Always thinking. Never really excellent at anything. And not all that memorable. Something about watching people find success with the words I wrote, showed me that I was capable of so much more in my own life. Someone much smarter than me said something along the lines of “excellence can be sparked from a mental expansion of what we believe to be capable.” ✅ Seeing people that we resonate with do something similar to what we want to do. ✅ Surprising ourselves and doing something we never thought we could do. Find people that are doing it that look like you or come from where you come from. Or go out and do it and see what happens. Ideally both. So much opportunity out there. Get after it. #justQ 🖖🏽🖤 …see more

Content creation is like running a business. 💰💰💰 Retention is crucial. You can gain followers all day, everyday. But if you don't keep them there then you won't have much success. ✔️ Give people a reason to keep coming back. ✔️ Provide space for them to participate. ✔️ Build an environment that is safe for them to participate. ✔️ Make sure they get value. It should be about them more than it is about you. Also give them space to bring value. ✔️ What would you add? When we first started our company, all of our focus went into gaining new clients (as it should have). Then we built a team that helped and allowed us to bring more value to our clients, improving our services, etc. Just like you wouldn't expect a client to stick around if you're providing a sub-par service... don't expect your followers to stick around. Give them a reason to. #justQ 🖖🏾🖤 #business #entrepreneurship …see more

This kind of collaboration will dominate the next years in digital health. Tech companies are amazing at creating technology but have no healthcare experience. Healthcare companies know what they do until it comes to using advanced technologies people would like to use. Combining their expertise is the right path forward. Let's see what healthcare/pharma partners Amazon, Microsoft and Alphabet will choose soon. #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology …see more

The repeated inability of the Federal Reserve to meet its inflation objective has led quite a few people to continue advocating for more aggressive monetary policy and even raising the inflation target (as a means of also impacting inflationary expectations). Less discussed and researched is the possibility of the target being structurally too high. #economy #centralbank #fed #federalreserve #inflation …see more
